  1. ...the movie Jaws. Pretty good combo IMHO.

'And, you know, the thing about a shark... he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'.

  2. Alex I had a strange happening. When replying to a PM or Post the quoted portion would disappear or I guess the font changed to white as it was still there if you highlighted it with the mouse but you couldn't see it otherwise. It would be there when you hit the submit button though. I could just be crazy though.

What browser and version of browser are you using? Also if you haven't rebooted your computer in the last week try restarting it and see if you can make it happen again.

  3. STILL SUCKS. LAGS ON OPENING UP A PAGE. HAD TO REFRESH 3 TIMES JUST TO OPEN UP

As stated before hitting the reload button will only make the issue worse by adding to the load on the server. I would clear your browser cache, turn off any firewall software on your desktop/laptop (IF you are already running a hardware firewall such as a wireless access point Linksys, Netgear, Etc.) and see if the issue improves.

  4. SO why is this so good right now?? and I still wait ages for a page to load???

It's a test - working on an idea I had. Can you do a traceroute and post that result also? Thanks.

  6. I would check and see what platform works best with the books/classes your school offers. The bookstore should have some input on that for you.

I have an iPad and I find it very easy to read - most of my material is in ePub or PDF format.

  7. I"m still having troubles

Are you running a software firewall on your desktop or laptop? What anti-virus software are you running?

  8. After losing the big yellow head I cut back on my feedings and I got a bristleworm trap and use it every few nights - caught a couple that were 2 inches all curled up. I'll keep at it and maybe try the cheesecloth trap too.

I wonder if the goby was sleeping under one of my rocks where there is a cavity and he likes to hide and maybe the bristleworm got him. Also lost a Helfrich to the little c8cksuckers and that's when the gloves came off.

  9. I've had a yellow head Goby and a cleaner shrimp disappear in the last month. I've also notice many bristle worms poking their heads out when I feed. Is it possible for a bristle worm to take out a goby or cleaner shrimp? Both of them were 3-4" long or is it more likely they croaked and got cleaned up fast? I checked for fish jerky and didn't find anything.

  10. Here are my results after turning my Windows firewall off to test to see if that was the issue...

Sorry I should have clarified that I didn't think the firewall on/off was the issue in our case but just wanted to take that out of the loop/chain while troubleshooting this issue. Also might help eliminate any future issue some might run into with their home networks. Thanks.

  11. I'm sick of seeing this thread!!! Seeing this thread at the top everyday makes me want to leave this site more than anything! lol

Believe me when I say that no one wants this thread to become history more than me. Currently our trouble ticket has reached the senior admin with our provider.

  12. Now why would I want to turn off my firewall? And that wont help kim, she is in the same boat on a pc.

I have a leased cable modem.... Arris Model TM602G/CT

wireless modem is a Lynksys wireless g 2.4 GHz with speed booster (ya right!)

I wanted to make sure you were not using a cable modem that had a firewall built-in (doesn't look like it) and then using a wireless router with a firewall (pretty sure yours does - on the bottom does the label say WRT54G?) which can cause issues. If your wireless router has a firewall built-in then your firewall on your laptop is not needed - double firewalls does not double your protection it only doubles the number of points were you need a correct configuration. I don't run any firewall on my home computers except for my main router connected to my cable modem. If you are connecting to a public WiFi spot then, yes, turning on the firewall is a good idea.

  13. I am running a new Mac too' date=' I think it has something to with the firewall and how our ISP routes us to the server. I have been slow, fast and had tomes I cant get on at all. iPhone slow on forum runner from time to time too![/quote']

How to turn off the OSX firewall - http://kb.iu.edu/data/aozg.html

Also what make and model of cable modem do you have and what make and model of wireless router do you have (all those funny model #'s please)?
