  1. Drained my 29 down to ~4" of water and scooped the Damsel out no problem. Dropped my mixing pump in and had the water pumped back in 5 minutes. I was amazed at how easy the whole process was but then again I'd been trying to net the little &@!# for about 2 weeks.

  2. Nothing less than an MP60. Kidding but post it to YouTube if you go that direction.

The Korallia Nano units are cheap, have a good reputation and can be found locally.

  3. Where abouts in Tigard? I work Mon-Friday 8am to 6pm or so but could possibly swing by on my way home from work to check/top off stuff. But could for sure be on call for emergencies. I am not the most experienced reefer but can follow directions well LOL!!!

    Frank-

I also work in Tigard Mon-Friday - about 5 min from your place - maybe we could split/alternate days. I could probably manage a weekend day also. Also not an expert reef keeper but I can walk and chew bubblegum at the same time. PM if needed.

  4. I didn't get pictures of all of them

There was one that is out of print by Joyce Wilkerson with Clownfish in the title but electrokate said it was at seahorsesource.com.

There was another book by Matt Wittenrich. I'm not sure if I took a picture of that one.

    Here's the link again

Just got a call this morning and Seahorsesource is not able to get the Clownfish book anymore - their supplier is just referring people to Amazon.

  5. The quality on most rips sucks ***. If you have a high quality stereo as I do you can tell your listening to an mp3. Ipods still suck. I have better things to do than find pirated music and make a playlist and deal with itunes hogging most system resources.

I still buy 90% of my music on physical discs and then rip to FLAC which is a lossless format. I have a number of Squeezebox devices around the house attached to powered speakers and my home theater setup. The Squeezebox units use high quality 24 bit DAC and they pull any of my music off a older PC running the Squeezebox server software. Frankly it's pretty [language filter] hard to hear any quality drop off from just playing my physical discs and I never have to touch a disc after it's ripped.

As for Apple being "greedy" you do know that they only license the music so they are very limited in the pricing. Steve Jobs actually fought quite hard for the original .99 / song pricing which was a HUGE change not only in terms of price but also not having to but an entire album at a time. Another myth is that DRM was Apple's decision - Apple was forced by the recording industry to implement a DRM scheme in order to be able to sell it through the iTunes store. Apple was able to use it's market size later to exchange dropping DRM and letting the industry choose variable pricing for individual songs (I think its .69 / .99 / 1.29 now). In terms of hardware there are very few units that beat the iPod line for build and sound quality in a portable device. The sound quality from my iPhone is pretty [language filter] good.

  6. +1. Although I dont have phone line and I only pay like 88$ tops for HD/DVR cable with showtime, stars, and hbo free. And the fastest internet. Only pay like 89$ per month.

Comcast is best. I wont get dish ever again. When I had it, every time it was rainy and windy it would blur or go out all together. The one time you want to watch tv you cant. They said I had 80+% signal too. Never again

Sounds like you had a poor dish install or a bad LNB - I would never trust Dish or Directv installers - find a 3rd party and pay them to install the dish and run the cables - worth every penny. The only time I get signal drop out with Directv is when ice accumulates on the dish but a supersoaker filled with de-icer from the upstairs bedroom window has been known to work well.

  7. Are they really any different from brand to brand from what you've seen?

Another question would be can you get an Ipad without paying for the AT&T or Verizon Service?

Yes the iPad comes in a Wifi only model. Go to an Apple Store and play with the new model - it's the shiznit but prepared to wait as it was just released a week ago and supplies are very constrained right now.

  8. Here is the FAQ from Multnomah County library on their audio and ebook lending:

My wife has a 2nd gen Kindle and went from reading a couple books a month to 6-8 a month. Loves the device and loves the experience. The Kindle is not terribly friendly with the lending services but it can be done with a little effort:

Still love my iPad for reading and it's got a billion more uses when I'm done with a book.

  9. 1) microscopic cross section shot of some internal organ

    2) a crowd of people - perhaps waiting outside an Apple Store for an iPad

    3) a car - probably an import and it's bring driven by someone famous (can't tell who though)

    4) dinner - not fast food - probably a vegan dish

  10. Check out Bulk Reef Supply or Air Ice Water - pretty one of them has install videos for RODI systems. Not hard really and lots of options for all sorts of home configurations.

IMHO - an RODI system is one of the best things you can invest in from both a money savings and a time savings perspective.
