.............! lol - i didn't have my coffee when i wrote that comment which possibly would have allowed me to think more clearly seeing as i drink it every day it seems - but i still think it is a valid observation i mean aren't caps to express as in excitement cheer anger? and usually they are followed by an exclamation question mark or some symbol that shows the emotion just using caps is imo immature and not communicating well to others i guess i'm just bored with caps only caps serve a purpose in grammar and heay sorry about the no periods or commas ! (laugh)
  2. Just in case you have not heard, it is not going to be pleasant this weekend for traveling! It will be snowing, freezing rain and when it's just raining the temp outside will still be below freezing, just a note for those thinking about traveling in it. Our pipes froze 2 days ago but freed up in the afternoon, since then I have let a faucet run about 1/3 speed, a trickle did not make a difference prior to this freeze. I love this weather really, my favorite time of year!(clap)
  3. TANK PENDING GIVEAWAY Will update this post tomorrow but looks pretty solid that the tank is gone tio a member who by the time post of his PM was first to request it, thanks all on that one. Matt

  5. I'll start with this stuff, there will be more as time allows. Just give me a message what you want and when you want to get it, leave me your # I am in OC, cheers! Matt 28 glln Nano tank don't know make - hood electrical gutted but snaps into hinges nicely, smooth opening and closing, a few small scratches, no pumps but takes two small 'wave' pumps - you need to rehab the lighting which will all be gone - it will be an empty hood when you get it, no leaks, you see the top upside down sitting on the tank opening it looks screwy but is all good, includes wooden stand as seen in pic, must take both. :-) Good place for refugium lighting clear back glass spot. Skimmer - I think an Amiracle, in sump. (2) Glass closures for tank openings - pro made, plastic hinged, 19 1/4" x 7 3/4". (2) 20" Fluorescent lights, 19 watt - pics of ballast then two lights. (party)(highfive)(party)(highfive)
  6. Paradox It was just a paradox to have read so many references on temp and see the opposite, i.e., way lower than normal and not detrimental to the marine life, just interesting to see it actually happen. I suppose shipping does do as you say for that period and they do mostly come out unharmed. Yup, I'm taking everything out of deep freeze as I type going toward the balmy Indo Pacific climes these guys like, thanks!(clap)
  7. Ihave a 55 gallon tank in my garage. I have soft and hard corals, a few fish, snails, etc. The temp on my tank went down to 70 this am when I checked, a heater had gone out so this contributed to the low temp. It has been getting to around 10 degrees outside in the am here consistently, our pond is covered with 3" of ice! Everything in the tank looks good, some ricordia not open as much but not alarming - of course I am surprised at how well everything is doing and looks because all the books say no drastic temperature changes, certainly not 10 degrees as I usually keep it at 80, even though I have read down to 77 this time of year is ok, a change of 7 degrees seems drastic. Maybe these marine creatures are tougher to the vagaries of the natural environment than given credit. Of course it can be assumed that a prolonged temp change to this degree would be harmful, I am not doing that experiment, the heater was replaced as I keep backups of important items like that. Anyone else had a similar experience or something unusual happen with their tanks temperature?
  8. Ties that bind Well, seems obvious who the golfers or promiscuous are here -(whistle)(laugh)(laugh)(laugh)
  9. Hehe Yeah! Thanks SugarBear!(clap)(clap)(clap)(clap)
  10. Heater(s) I have a 55 in the garge. I have a titanium in the tank and another in the sump. I cover the tank top at night with a large, thick towel. It gets cold in that garage, cement floor. The temperature goes between 77 to 80, sometimes a little more in each direction. I know this is not ideal at all. Untill I get this AC3 / DC8 strip working, if that's the problem, the DC8, I just have to monitor it manually AM & PM.(whistle)

No one should use full caps in a thread or post header, it's just not needed or necessary. It's an angry communication from someone that makes others less likely to read it or contribute to it imho.(clap)
  19. Creative Now if you can punch out desirable shapes in the steel plate, say, stars, moons, planet shapes they will be lit from inside and be cast on the walls! The kids will love it! Either aluminum or steel would be condensed on I would think. If it is raised up 8" then the bent wall steel going straight up but trying the same thing in foil as a demo / model first to see how it works out? Then the steel. Mirrors facing in? That would get the lums going!(laugh)
  20. Looks Like Looks like a branch, I have had a nomber of different ones, I have not seen them being detrimental but I think some knids can be. I have one now that is totally black that opens it's 'back' and filters grains of sand through it and cleans my rocks- very cool! I will get a pic up the next time he makes an appearance. This is a great site to identify them, the identification process can take a bit but worth it(clap)
  21. tank! Oh, and a beautiful tank btw! (clap) (rock2)
  22. Simple fix Least expensive and maybe a temporary fix is just plain aluminum foil around the edge of the light, or an extension of the tank perimeter say with a bent strip of stainless steel about 2" high glued onto the tanks edge? Don't now where you might get that.(clap)
