  2. (popcorn)(popcorn)(popcorn)(popcorn)I got this with a tank buy I did earlier this year. I have another unit, don't need two. It is the 100 MG an hour unit, new retails for $249. SOLD
  3. :DAnyone know of an AC3 users group? Anyone interested in helping set one up?
  4. Is it Art or Science? Man, that is really aesthetic! When that is up and running with coral it will be incredible - really, really well done!(clap)
  5. Schedule Except for the feeding schedule for his 50 gallon, three times a day for his fish, it seems like a very good system, albeit probably an expensive one.
  6. Attending will be there probably if not working........! (clap)
  7. Interesting So, whenever I see a boat start off at a relatively high speed, the bubbles and fuming, churning water are the effects of cavitation? The pressure, then, is lesser on the output side ? No, the pressure is less on the input side, the side closer toward the bow (front) of the boat - the shape of the blade being like a wing or airfoil where the bulging upward side is toward the direction the boat is going in and only going in the forward direction because the pressure on the blades is less toward the front direction , correct? So, if the fluid in the pump is made less and the power of the pumping does not change, is it the same as the starting, speeding boat, making the churning bubbly water on the outflow, even though there is no more fluid for the pump to draw through as there is more water for the boat to utilize? That's the part I don't get. If one restricts the water to the pump, air must pass the blades of the pump toward the source of the water to fill the unequal pressure made by the pump blade turning faster than it can pull water through, and or, the blades slow and the pump motor works harder. Maybe both happen as the pressure equals out and you get the knocking slow / fast turning of the blade as in my wave pumps when they go on sometimes. well, I had fun, thanks! lol(laugh)
  8. Harder I hold no certificate in hydro dynamics, but it seems that if there is less water / fluid available for the pump in a contained area at the entrance to the pump, it follows the pressure will also increase in that area, therefore the pump has met greater resistance to pull in less volume, but volume that is in essence, being pulled back toward the source. Kind of like why a wing has lesser reistance on the top of the wing and more on the bottom of it, kind of. But don't quote me ))
  9. Other trades Make me an offer - what do you have? Thanks!
  10. Green Pavano I'd like to get it, where are you located? Matt 503 710 8179
  11. Gobi diet Presently the Gobi is in a 55 gln that has a refugium and a cal reactor - other than usual stuff, minimal sand less than an inch on average. He seems to sift a lot off of the rocks as well as sand. There have been periods he looked thinner than other times but it did not last long and I think it was due to inhabitant additions. I have never seen this fish eat anything I have put into the tank as a food particle, it has all been too big, probably. I have observed sifting and it is extremely fine particulate matter that is filtered through his gills. I doubt that he would even entertain the idea of eating an amphipod or copepod as they would be too big even though they are hard to see, come to think of it.
  12. Very helpful This was very helpful and appreciated! Simple, easy to follow instructional DIY stuff, thanks!
  13. Stock Phots, see above post for link to pics of what it looked like when operating in my home, thanks!(smile)
  14. Gobi I've had a Mandarin in my JBJ for over 5 months and never fed it anything, it sifts the sand, rocks - there has to be something it's getting from there to survive but it's just live sand.
  15. $350 - JBJ 28 with everything! (wife) says if it is not out of the garage by this weekend I have to make it into some kind of a xmas ornament!!DOH!(nutty)
  16. R-3 it comes with the stand. Let me correct my posting in that it is 150W - I was thinking of my active tank lighting, will edit the the listing to reflect that, thanks. I had no problem with heat which I was keeping at around 80 to 82, everything was thriving in there. Pics are here........http://gallery.me.com/mactown#100216
  17. (party) This is pretty much a plug + play system! I am setting up some other stuff and would like to sell it. Here is the JBJ link that explains it all: http://www.jbjlighting.com/prod-28g-nano-hq1.html The tank is about 6 months old and has been broken down for a month, cleaned and ready to come alive again! It's a very easy system to get up and running,wave-maker, lighting included is a single 150W 15K - I added lighting with one 27W Actinic and one 27W Daylight. New cost was $595, lighting I added was about $60 - I am asking for $350 or looking for 4' x 18" x 12" frag tank ( or something similar) or 3' x 3' x 2' cube tank (or something similar) or make me an offer with what have you! The tank is scratch free, it is glass with rounded front 'corners' - it's a beautiful tank that looks amazing when running, a great Xmas present! Pics up later today - thanks! 18. Taxes and your children's children ....... I've read most of these posts and skimmed through some and I direct my post to no one in particular. Taxes are what democracy runs on, that is the long and the short of it. Nothing gets done without taxes. Schools, roads, electrical, power plants, dams, parks, community centers, infrastructure,etc,etc,etc..... it all comes through taxes. Voting is the means to let your representatives know what taxes you think we should have. The representative you voted into office is the one you trust to put those taxes to best use. If you think that she / he won't do the correct thing, call them, email them, write to them, communicate to them or their office, go to a school meeting, town meeting. An unbiased survey would most likely find that within any group of people or a crowd less than %50 of them voted on an issue or less than %50 plan to vote when the time comes. No one's opinion matters unless it is backed by a vote, plain and simple. I think it's great that so many people are aware of this issue and voicing what they believe and hope that when the decision has been made - they will be able to say they voted on it. An opinion is only an opinion until it's put to a vote, that's when it matters most.
  19. ......or I really think he bribed a guard at a public aquarium so he could be filmed feeding the fish!!(laugh)(clap)
  20. Gold Finger Got to be pumping at least $100 a day into that baby and more than an hour or so to maintain it, I raise my gold fish bowl high!!
  21. Now can you create an app for the iPhone?!?! NICE JOB!!!!!!!
  22. Stan is the Man! I had never seen an Aqua C skimmer before, looking at the sites all the models look pretty much the same - not true, a big difference in the actual size of model. The 240 that Stan sold me this evening is great and I am sure it will satisfy my skimmer needs for a while! He also gave me a great deal on a Mag 18 pump. A real nice guy with a great family who I am totally grateful to have done business with and feel fortunate to have met. Again, thanks Stan! Matt
