Hey Brad,
You have inspired me to also run NP pellets now. Since bacteria that live on the NP pellets eat much more nitrate than phosphate, I'll keep running GFO at the same time. I'm going to start with a small amout of pellets as you have described.
Carbon dosing ya!

David Saxby is famous for having one of the best personal tanks in the world, you'll see pictures of his tank in many books. It looks like he replaced it with this new tank.

I have an ATB cone skimmer and I can adjust the flow into the overflow cup by rotating the vertical pipe. This rotation opens or closes the output opening, with completly open causing the least overflow. The height of the water that the skimmer sits in has a large effect and it took me awhile to get that settled.
Every time I clean my skimmer it overflows like crazy, so I have to open the output to the max and run the skimmer with the drain open for a few hours until a coating builds up on the neck. Then I close the drain valve and cut the output down some.

I have a couple of troughs I can lend you. I used them to store my live rock in while cleaning it. Each is well over 50 gallons.

I haven't compared them, but I think the bluelines are quieter. They are much bigger.

If you join Reef Central (<$30), you will be able to post your tank for sale there without posts. Or post a strange thread somewhere and bump it every 2 hours. A thread about putting a 6th tang in your 55 will get a lot of responses and allow you to post many replies quickly.

I'll take the monti for $15. Are you going to be coming to pdx soon? - Mark

I have bought a number of corals from Jon that were a very good deal and are happy in my tank.

250W in good reflectors sounds fine for 24" deep. You will probably want to add some blue flourescents in front and back for startup and shutdown gradual lighting. And for taking pictures that make some corals look "fantastic".

What are the dimensions of the sump? I am looking for something similar.

I just saw this. Put me on the list.

Good to hear it will work out fine. It makes me think about trying the same thing with a future clown tank of my own.
-
Are you planning on getting some more anemones for all of those clowns? I had no idea that you could keep that many clowns together without them fighting all of the time. If this works out for you, it will be way cool tank!
-
That's really good to hear. I probably will add a group of anthias to my tank after I'm through adding flashers and fairies.

Hey Steve, how are your Dispars doing?
My Bio Pellet Experiance

I just got my bio pellet reactor going today. My pellet maker reccomends 50 - 250 ml of pellets per 100 gallons of system water, so I started with 250 ml. It doesn't look like much in a big reactor and doesn't seem to be flowing evenly.
Brad, did you add any bacteria to the reactor to jump start it? BRS talks about waiting 4-8 weeks for results.
