  1. My favorite fish today got to close to the Vortech and was decapitated. (hitme) It was a very sad moment. For those of you with Vortechs out there I would suggest putting on the foam cover. By by Mr. Tailspot Blennie. (sad)
  2. LOL! It was great meeting you also Miles.
  3. I have a friend that has one of each I believe. PM me and we can work out the details.

  5. I would research the lighting requirements for the critters you plan on keeping. There are a lot of cold water species that are non-photosynthetic so light would only be for viewing purposes. Here is some great info: http://www.oregonreef.com/sub_coldwater.htm
  6. You people have some dirty minds! A must see

    New Find!

I will try to get some pictures but it is in a really awkward spot. Oh, it is definitely not a peanut worm.
  8. A 20 would work great. I will bring it over tonight.
  9. I am glad everyone liked the foam rock wall demo. I am looking forward to seeing some cool new aquascapes in the near future. Here is a link to the store I bought the epoxy from: http://stores.ebay.com/Polymer-Products-The-Epoxy-Experts__W0QQ_sidZ61010028QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em14?_pgn=4

    New Find!

Now wait a minute? It's my tank, not hers. If I claimed everything I found in her tank she would have nothing left.

    New Find!

My wife was checking out our nano last night and called me over. She asked, "have you ever seen a tube worm like that before?" I looked around several times and couldn't find anything. She then had to physically point it out and to my surprise there was a dark black feather duster coming out of some live rock. (clap) How cool is that? Has anyone ever seen a black one? It is about the size of a quarter. I stared at it for a few moments then it quickly darted back to it's crevice.
  12. I could bring over my MP10 when I get the canopy done. We could find a smaller tank so you can see a scaled down version if you want?
  13. What happened to those two lions you had?
  14. From your description and picture they look just like rock anemones?
  15. It looks great Clay! I want to come in and add to my collection also.
  16. Swing by the house today and Heather can give it to you. It is sitting on the ledge next to the front door. I don't have a low profile one but this one could get you by for now. If you want, you could drop off the cash for the pump also. How does $30 sound?
  17. I have an ARO VHO ballast, end caps, and wiring I would trade you. Works great!
  18. I would use eggcrate or make your own out of bird netting and window screen frames. Acrylic or glass will trap in the heat given off by your lights and block light if its not spotless.
  19. Let me know what you have. I would prefer used and the possibility of shipping if it is not local. Thanks a bunch! Nick
  20. Thanks for the tips. We have an over sized skimmer in the tank with multiple species of macro. Like you said, maybe they are just running out of food. I will try clipping the "runners" and turning the skimmer off for a day or so and see if it improves. Thanks again for the help.
  21. Nick - Yep that's the one. We brought it home, it grew like mad, and suddenly crashed. It could be fighting with our other macro for nutrients... we have a handful of dragons tongue that has quadrupled in size in a matter of weeks. Should I try supplementing with a medley of trace elements? Also, our tank is chilled at 74 deg. Doesn't seem to bother the other algae, but I'm trying to lay all my cards on the table.
  22. I checked the levels in the tank, my ammonia, nitrites and nitrates all rest at zero. I don't see any sign of spores being released either. At any rate, I'm going to do another water change and keep an eye on the levels just to be safe. I hate to lose that piece, it's one of my favorites. I'm really scratching my head on this one. It is in the display tank, but it's confined to the sand bed, for now.. It's not the grape caulerpa, we have some of that too, they look similar, but have some distinct differences in appearance. This once doesn't have spherical bubbles, it's more like mickey mouse ears stacked flat and evenly on top of each other.
  23. Got this unidentified macro a couple of weeks ago, it was growing like a weed, about an inch a day! Now suddenly it is losing its pigment, going limp, and falling apart. I have scoured the internet for info and I think perhaps we need to supplement iron. Can anyone spare some iron supplement until we can get some?? Also, if you know what kind of macro algae this is I'd like to know.. THANKS! Heather
