  1. A couple of them are getting big. Im pretty sure flow restrictions were stunting the growth of some if the other sps in my tank.
  2. So I recently started having some major problems with the tank. I think that the layout and the amount of stuff in the tank was killing the flow and in a very short period of time corals started browning out, some have tissue loss, and others just RTN'd. so until I eventually redo the entire tank I removed a ton of stuff and rescaped a bit. here it is after the removal and re-arrangement. of course the white balance is off in the photos but I just wanted to get a couple of pics taken.
  3. so I ended up losing a few things. My strawberry shortcake acro, my hawkins colony and a aussi echinata. Other than that everything recovered pretty well. I have almost all my colors back except for a few of them but that could also be because I changed the light too. now using a 8 bulb powermodule. I'll have to take a few pics later.
  4. Its funny to hear someone call bend to redmond a trek. I used to feel the same way when I lived there but 18 to 20 miles is nothing to me now.
  5. that is the fastest update ever. Nice to see a tank with sps in central oregon.
  6. went on vacation and returned to find everything on the verge of death. I think I can save just about everything but no colors are left which is going to take some time to fix.
  7. I would love to add more corals but I have a virtual frag forest on the rocks closest to the wall. Just have to wait and see how they grow out.
  8. cleaned up the tank a bit. a couple updated pics.
  9. Looking great. It's nice to see people put a little time effort and money into a first setup.
  10. a quick update before I take vacation. going home to bend for a week visit and portland for a couple days.
  11. Lucky you. That stuff is all over the place here in the bay area and still I cant get my hands on any. I too have been waiting for some time, and still waiting.
  12. I cant imagine keeping a reef in Bend. the weather would be better but I never even attemp to go to the LFS when I'm there to visit
  13. No real updates for awhile. Waiting for someone to come by and pick up my 2 big moti's and I'm setting up a 29 gallon that will be plumbed into my current system so I can put all of my softies and LPS in to make room for more sps in the elos. I ended up not buying the ATB instead got a used gen 1 Bubble King mini 180.

  20. a quick growth shot update of my pink lemonade from Jul to yesterday. starting to branch off since it broke about a month ago or so. I am also very happy with the improvement in colors over the past year probably because I changed to new different bulbs. I will post other coral growth pics later. July 09 Dec 09
  21. a couple of new pics. they are a little dark but you get the idea. Had a rock slide so to speak while on a weekend getaway, so I redid some of the rocks and gave some stuff away to try and thin out some of the garbage. tank at 9 months.
  22. Didnt set mine up for a year untill I was settled in my new house
  23. I almost lost everything last night. Had a malfunction with my kalk reactor and had it dump hella Kalk into my tank found it looking like milk and P.H. of 10.2. nothing looked good, tang was almost dead, corals spewing slime could have been a disaster. I ended up knocking on a starngers door who I knew had a tank and got 10 gallons of good salt water from him + the 5 I had and did a water change which didnt do too much to my P.H. thankfully I had some vinager water for ceaning some pumps and dumped some it into the tank and got the P.H. in control. Clear water this morning and zero losses but it was close to nuking the entire tank.
