  1. I went to see Isaac and Cheri's shop and it's an awesome little shop. You can tell Isaac loves what he does. He is very patient and very informative. His corals are awesome. My only problem is choosing what to buy. This place is going to be very habit forming. If you haven't been there yet, it's one to put on your list to visit.
  2. +3 for the Wet Spot. Just my opinion the best freshwater shop in this area.
  3. If you haven't made it into a sump yet I have a 10 gallon glass aquarium baffled for $10 if your ever in the Portland area. It's not pretty but it works. It's baffles off center to make room for a small skimmer and pump.
  4. Wow! That big huh!? I will try and get a better photo posted. Live food for 6 years! Yikes!

    Fish Room

I have an in wall tank running in my family room. It viewable from the front yard! I get a couple comments now and then. At least it explains that 20k glow coming from the house! The fish room will be huge step for me to breed fish. I needed a place to control the enviroment better than just the garage. I'll clean my in wall tank and post those this weekend. Pledosophy - yes, I wouldn't mind talking with you about kreisel designs and such. Especially when they are proven. Thanks! And good luck on the house search!
  6. Just my experience with feeding my seahorses. I feed them mainly mysis and brine with spirulina. My seahorses even ate chunks of krill. I don't use supplements. I may use some when I attempt to breed them. The only down side is they can only go a day without food and the general rule is once a week
  7. They were pretty small. About three inches. I'm gonna breed them when they become adults. The male is now about 5 inches and the female is catching up quick at about 4.5". They should reach about 6 inches. Oh, I feed mine live once in a while as a treat and they go back to frozen without a problem. You shouldn't have a problem either.

    Fish Room

I have been slowly building a fish room with the help from my good friend Dave (Burlycuda). (Okay, Dave I posted the picture for you to see the progress so far) I plan on breeding seahorses and dottybacks. I already have a 37g Seahorse tank (wife's). 50g Frag tank. And a 270g in wall tank that's 3 feet deep. (What was I thinking). Apparantly, as you know I too have the saltwater sickness (nutty) and my wife (wife) has been more than understanding. So, I wonder why she agreed to my bright idea in breeding fish. Anyway, the room is built none other than in the garage. It's roughly 12' by 9'. I have so far 8 tanks with 18 compartments. Right now just a couple boring photos of a room with walls and a freshly painted floor. More photos to come! Thanks for looking. It was a double car garage. [/img] [/img]
  9. Nice seahorses. Thought I would share my two reidi from ORA. Tank raised and had them for almost a year. They are really fun fish to watch. I have a mandarin that eat frozen food in there with them so feeding is no problem. Sorry for the bad picture. [/img]
  10. Just check the board. Is the "Red Acan 1 in frag donated by Rose City Aquariums" still available? Thank you Eric.

    Purple Nudibranch

Bummer, that's too bad... I heard there are nudi's (hee hee naked in latin) that eat aiptasia. If they are cheap enough it may be a good way to clean a tank up naturally since it a B**** to use the syringe and the inability to contort my arm so that I dont knock rocks over. Have any of you heard of any that are kept in aquaria successfully? I've seen luttuce nudi's which are cool, but not nearly as pretty. Nick, I've seen you sell some cool black colored one with the blue stripe, but again not sure if they are even worth the effort. Thanks for the replies guys. Bob - how's the tank build going?

    Purple Nudibranch

Hypselodoris bullocki - Anyone have success keeping these alive. I heard they feed on sponges, which I have some. Can they be weened into eating possibly food for angelfish that have sponge in it? It would be a very colorful addition to a reef. Thanks!
  13. Need the space and need it gone. $35
  14. Measures 16" tall - 14" wide - and 24" long. Does not leak. $50
  15. $15 - small cracks in baffle, but they are siliconed. No leaks. Would make a great refugium. [/img]

    Fragging zoas?

If you cannot break the rock you can try and peel the base off some or even cut the base and superglue them on a disk or rock. Be careful if you have any cuts or scratches those things release toxin that stings some people, one being me. Just take your time.
  17. My first ever Ebay purchase was Perry's Auction. I have to say he was very easy to deal with and being able to pick up the coral from his shop instead of paying the $25 shipping fee made it nice also. When I got there he was eating lunch and drop his lunch to greet me and let me look at the the other corals he has in his shop. Needless to say I walked out with a couple more corals with my auction piece. Perry is the Acan King! I never seen such large and colorful acan colonies. Anyway, his prices are good and he was really cool to deal with. I look forward to his next auction and probably a visit to his store before then! Thank Perry! (rock2)
  18. I helped out over at Davey Jones last summer and I am familiar with that tank. BTW nice tank. The tank is built to take a seaswirl right above the overflow. So, should have some nice flow. I would go with a 250w halide or if you just go with a softy tank I would go with the T5's. I thought that the tank would be a great for sps myself since it's set up for a seaswirl. Again very nice tank! Have fun deciding and putting it together.

    Mandarin goby

I have one for over a year in my 37 gallon and he eats brine and mysis shrimp. I have thought about trying my hand at breeding them. The first problem I would have is finding a female. My understanding is that the males are easy to catch in the wild because of there dorsal fin is larger and spiked at the top so when netting them the dorsal gets snagged in the mesh. I haven't seen a female mandarin yet in stores. As for finding one. It's tough. I sat and stared at the one I have for almost an hour at the LFS. I made sure he was fat and he was hunting for food. It's still a crap shoot. I hope you find one like mine. He is by far my favorite fish and in my opinion one of the most beautiful. To be completely honest I purchased two mandarins prior to that and they slowly starved. I told my wife no way will I buy another until I get a big reef built. Until I saw the one I have now... As for grazing I don't really agree. I would say they hunt for their food and they are quite quick. And yes you'll be hard pressed to find someone willing to give up a mandarin that eats frozen food. Just keep looking and definately do not buy one that is not eating. Good Luck.
