  1. Ahhhh.... Purple tang...... how big?!?! LOL not like I should have it in a 60 gal cube either but one of my favorites!!
  2. Oh bubble gum monster.... Oh the temptation.... Tank no where ready for that yet. [emoji22] Good luck with the sale! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. The funny thing is... She's already too big for the teeth of the overflow, must have squeezed behind the lock line. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. This happens frequently with Kent salt. I don't know why but my 100 gal tub always has this brown coating that I cleaned out every now and then. Happens worse when I use to add extra alk to it.
  5. LOL, that would explain why she ate like a pig last night! Had to get her energy up before hoping the overflow went to the ocean!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I woke this morning, brewed a cup of coffee, and checked out the tank. Shocked to find Mandy missing. Pulled out the flashlight and searched high and low, no where to be found.... Until I checked the sump... Low and behold it appears she went through the overflow. So I scooped her up with my hand and put her back in the display. Guess I will looking into how she made it into the overflow after work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. The rock when I bought it was dry. But I started curing that several weeks before I got the tank. I cycled this with Dr Tims one and only, microbactor 7 and 3 bags of live sand. Please don't go all "Cycle police" on me, I've been around long enough and set up more tanks than I can count. And if there happens to be a spike in my nitrates I am prepared to do a large water change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I forgot to mention.... that since I got them on Pride Sunday I have decided to name them Mandy and Marie! Mandy is the larger one in the back and Marie is in the front.
  9. So I have my first additions. Thanks Jeff and Cuttlefish and Corals!! They tested my nitrates and gave the all clear for a pair of clowns. I was looking at another pair when this adorable pair was pointed out to me, hosting a feather duster. I got them home, acclimated and put them all in the tank in one quick handful, feather duster and all, hoping the clowns would find the feather duster..... Here is the feather duster And here are the clowns, currently hosting the corner of the tank..... Hope they find the duster, because they were so cute in it earlier today
  10. Just got home from being away for 3 days. Tank had been up a week, came home to some brown algae on the sand and rock. Nice to see that the rock is not pure whit any more!Lights just went out so will take pic tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ok.... Maybe I wasn't clear enough in the first post. I can not change the plumbing on the inside of the overflow (internal overflow).... Can only change the plumbing on the back of the tank. Which is why I think the durso external standpipe might work. Brian, what is a gurgle buster?
  12. It needs to be external.... And I just found the Durso External on youtube, that is what I had on the big tank!! I wonder if this is the best option or if there is somthing newer in the last 2 years.
  13. For some reason I thought the herbie wouldn't work. I only have 1 overflow, the lower plumbing is the return. I will read up on the Herbie again (its been years and I think that is similar to what I put the big system we had.)

    Noisy overflow

Ok my tank has been up and running for 5 days now..... The overflow is LOUD! I have tried everything I know. Here is the picture of the plumbing. Mind you the overflow was already plumbed when I got it and I didn't do anything with it. Second.... you can't really get in the overflow section to change the internals. Third if I cut the old plumbing off and replace it I will need to start with a peice that will thread onto the bulkhead, because the old plumbing is glued inside the BH. Can I get some suggestions?

  17. Hmmmmmmmmmmm..... tempting..... Hey Isaac... how much is that ricordia rock??
  18. Some nice coral you got there..... Too bad my tank is no where ready for SPS!! I may not be ready either for that matter!
  19. Thanks, as I sit on my couch staring at the tank I am liking the cove. The couch gives you a view inside the cove! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. It's alive! Got it plumbed and filled last night!!! So excited!!! This was last night... And this is this morning, not sure I'm liking the rock work, disappointed in the pukani I got from BRS.
  21. So if I undersand you, the ball type is a good option and I should just use it. there are not metal parts to it, I took it all apart on my lunch to look. And if my sump is not big enough I will look at the overflow teeth. Also have adjustable return pump so I could lower the amount being pumped in there and use powerheads to increase in take flow.
  22. Mine looks similar only instead of a flap its a ball in the center that falls down when power goes out.
  23. What threw me over the edge was meeting my best friends new boyfriend months ago. And we started talking saltwater tanks. And then he had me over to see his tanks..... that was it, then he had a tank for sale..... ARGH! He held if for me for a couple months and finally pulled the trigger!
