  1. I'd make an external Durso. Other than that you would need to drill more holes for a bean animal. Bean animal is sooo quiet..
  2. Testing day.. I got a new RedSea kit to replace my 9 year old API kits. ph: 8 NH3/NH4: 0 No2: 0 No3: 10 DKH: 9
  3. Dang. I found another Biocube 14 today for $9 at St Vinnies but the back glass was cracked so I didn't take it. They also had a 40g bow front for $49. Not a fan of the bow tanks though.
  4. That reminds me of my old 55.. I had 110 pounds of rock in that thing. It was just a wall of rock end to end. I think I have about 17 pounds in my 14gal biocube right now..
  5. I see 55 gal all the time but I don't like how little depth they have. On rare occasions a 65 till turn up. I love 65 gal tanks.. 18" deep, 24" tall.. Lots of room to work with. 10 Gal all day long but as you noted they want as much or more than new for them. They had a Oceanic 30 cube I wanted but not for $50.. That violates my $1 pr gallon rule on used tanks. Someone snagged it before it hit 1/2 off week.
  6. I used to add pickling lime to my top off water and dose it in.. Poor mans Kalkwasser
  7. One of the pieces of live rock I got from Zmcclinton63 is just to big for my Nano. It's about 5lbs and currently sitting in a bucket of saltwater. I'd be happy to trade it for a frag or mushrooms.
  8. First water change, new filter pad and added my Chemi-Pure bag last night. Everything was out and extra happy today. I added 5 more lbs of live rock. I bought 10 so I have a 5lb rock in a bucket and no clue what to do with it.
  9. Oh I'd wait to get a clam till it's been running for awhile if I do that at all. This is my 4th reef tank. Started in 2000 and have been away since 09 or so.. First Nano..
  10. Hermit climbed the birds nest and got stuck in the branches.. I am entertained.

  11. Videos.. They Looking abused by flow?
  12. I'm currently running the lights at 10% mid day and 5% morning/evening and plan to ramp them up 5% a day till I get up to 90% mid day and 50% morning/evening Let the new corals acclimate to the lights. Good plan?
  13. Stock list so far: Flame me if I get these wrong Silver Xenia Blue Cespitularia Hammer Head frag Favia Birds Nest Long Polyp Goniopora?? I'm not sure it's what it was told it is.. ID? We also got a small CUC with 2 electric blue hermits, 5 nassarius snails and for fun 3 sexy shrimp because they are cute little buggers. No fish yet but when we do it will probably be a clown and maybe a maxi mini Is a clam too ambitious?
  14. Just a warning.. a $12 tank will never be a bargain.. I knew I was on a slippery slope when I found the tank at Goodwill. The poor little biocube was stripped of all it's pumps and lights but I brought it home anyway. After a lot of reading I made my first orders of parts. Nanobox Retro Plus M light kit Jebao PP-4 Cobalt MJ900 (return pump) Hydor Koralia Nano 425 (for the mix bucket) Fluval 50w heater Refractometer 20# CaribSea Live sand 10# dry rocks The nano box retro kit arrived about a week later All mounted up DIY splash shield from Acrylic and foam board The return parts were MIA so I drilled it for a loc-line Done with the PP-4 in place on the other side Another trip to Goodwill scored a small cabinet to put it on Not much life just yet more to come
  15. Made it to the fish store today in Springfield. I left a with an electric blue hermit, 3 sexy shrimp and and 5 pack of Nassarius snails.
  16. The Biocube online! I'm surprised it cleared up so well overnight. Last night after filling it was a wall of white. That little PP-4 is defining the sand scape all on it's own. I may have to dial it back more. The Nanobox retro kit works great.
  17. First tank back in 2000 was a 55 gal we had in Tacoma.. I ran that for 4 years until it was wiped out by an untested light timer tripping a GFI outlitet killing power to the tank for a whole week while we were out of town. It was brought back online after we moved to Denver and run for 2 years.. I had a 110 90% built out and we found out we had a baby on the way so we parted out everything and sold out. About little later we picked up a 65gal tank and ran that until 2008 when we moved back to WA. That was this one 2008 back in WA set got a 55 and ran that for a year until we moved to a house with 50 year old hardwood floors. We were renting and I didn't want to do salt in there. That was this tank.. The tub on cans was stocked with macro algae and live rock as a refugum.. Now some may be asking.. Why the big break from 2008 to today? In a word.. A freaking Koi.. I picked up a 65 intending to do salt but the kids talked me into letting them keep some 5 goldfish in it while I gathered equipment. One of those Goldfish turned out to be a Koi.. He grew and grew and grew.. After a few years all but the Koi and 1 goldie were still around.. When the Koi hit 18" we moved him and friend to a 90.. Then when we moved to Eugene he got an upgrade to a 350 gal stock tank in the back yard. That brings me to today and my little Biocube project.
  18. I tried to buy membership and got this error from paypal. " Sorry — your last action could not be completed" I tried several times. Any ideas? I've never had this paypal issue before.
  19. Wow I didn't know "The Fish store" existed.. Are they open to the public or deliver only?
  20. I've had reef tanks on and off for 15 or so years. I'm back in small nano size this time. We are currently working on a Biocube 14 setup but it's not wet yet. We are in Eugene and would be happy to hear from the locals.
