Thats funny. My wife doesn't like our Chromis. She thinks they are too plain looking. They are a very tough fish, I accidentally left one in a Rubbermaid tub for 6-days. It was hidden in a piece of pipe when we moved, and I didnt find it until we were cleaning up. The Midas is a great fish and our newest addition. It is fast becoming my favorite.

Thanks for the tips dsoz. I agree with you on the purchase of selling sub-par corals, but this LFS isn't in the business of selling corals. I would guess that someone just brought it in for credit, or just to give away. There are very few customers up in this area for reef stuff, so the LFS only has one small coral tank. I was hoping I could get it for a excellent deal and help it recover. I dont trust the water quality from this store. They also have issues with pests / ick. If I bought it, I agree that it would be best to go into DT, but I dont want to risk any pest or disease transfer. If there is nothing that I can do to prevent a possible problem, then I will just pass altogether.

I have good lighting in my DT (Current Outer Orbit Pro 2x250 MH). I have had bad experiences with this LFS, so it would most likely go into the QT tank for a while. Not so great lighting on the QT. Just standard FW fluorescent bulbs. Looking to upgrade light though, so I can properly QT / acclimate corals. Do you think it would make it for several weeks in the QT, if I fed it properly?

I thought it looked like an acan, but Im still learning on how to ID them. It looked like it had good polyp extension. Would it be worth $30 for a mystery coral that could recover?

Can anyone ID this coral? (Sorry for the bad photo, I took it with my phone.) I saw it at a local store this weekend. It is obviously bleached out, but otherwise looked alive. They had it labeled as a brain coral for $30. I was thinking of buying it and trying to recoup some color. Right now it is under some really cheap fluorescent lighting.

I came home today to find that our RBTA split. I'm sure that our 2 will turn into 4. How do I move them once I have too many? Any tips? I have read that if you tear the foot then they wont make it.

On the saltwaterfish.com forum there are several people who use that exact strip. I just ordered one off the bay for $19.99 + shipping. Hope it will organize the mess in my cabinet.

Thanks everyone. For lighting I have the Current Outer Orbit 2x250 MH fixture. Still running the stock bulbs, but when they start to degrade I think Im going to get the Phoenix 14K. Have heard good things about the color from those bulbs.

Yep, had to move the galaxea since that photo. Between the galaxea and my torch, I dont have as much room as I need. Time for a bigger tank!

Do you have peppermint shrimp? I lost one Duncan to my peppermint shrimp and they almost killed another. Looked the same and happened over several weeks, until one evening I found the culprit. Now the little Duncan eater is in the QT tank.

My pink zoa (pink twilights?) colony is taking over valuable real estate and needs thinned out. I would be willing to trade for just about anything except more Xenia (I need to get rid of some of it as well). This stuff grows pretty fast and I have frags from 5-50 polyps.

Thanks for the offer Rick, but I would like a 36" fixture.

I have a 48" Coralife Aqualight Deluxe power compact. It currently has 2x65w 10k bulbs and 2x65w actinic bulbs. All the bulbs are fairly new with less than approx 40 hours. I would like to trade it for an equivalent PC or T5 fixture that is 36" long for my QT tank.

I need to thin out our Xenia colony. Anyone interested in trades? Id post a pic, but it appears that I havent been on the forum long enough to have attachments. I can email photos if interested.
