  1. I have an extra XM 20K 175w and 3/4 in bulkheads if you still need them.
  2. A past PNWMAS president once said, “These forums will be the ruination of our club”. I am starting to believe him and I miss his sagely advice. It seems to me over the last three or four months we as Pacific Northwest Marine Aquarium Society have lost our way. We have gone from coming together to discuss our systems, to offer and get advice, contribute to each other, make available corals that some can’t afford or find, trying to better our hobby, The Tanks For Teachers Program, monthly get together’s, tank tours, and friendship to arguing, name calling, double dealing and dishonesty. You elected me, the other officers and the Board of Directors to deal with the inner workings and to make this a pleasant place to seek and offer advice, offer up a few corals and equipment for sale or trade, check out some other member’s tanks and a place to make friends. I ask you now to help us, help you. There are rules for this place. I ask that you abide by them. I ask that you refrain from the behavior that would cast us all in an unfavorable light. We all have opinions and you have every right to express those opinions but I ask that you do it as an adult and with respect. This hobby is frustrating enough without us bickering amongst ourselves. I am asking you to go back to talking tanks and our hobby. Chief, our system admin, is always posting threads that have to do with the hobby. Get in there and discuss. Help out your fellow reefers that are having problems, welcome our new members, or tell someone they did a good job on their new system. In the immortal words of Bill and Ted, “Be excellent to one another.” PS: We almost lost these forums last week but thanks to the quick work of Grassi, Chief, Michael7979, and one other whose name escapes me at the moment we are still here. So if you get a minute thank them. Shane Vice President PNWMAS
  3. Steve, have any updates? How about that gargantuan skimmer in action?
  4. Eric are you still running CA2OR Corals?
  5. I see you finally got water in it. Nice job Steve. Now move everything over so I can come get my new tank!!!(laugh)
  6. As I understand it and I am not a server guru by any means, we share a server with 299 other sites. We have outgrown the amount of CPU computing power and RAM we were allotted to use on said server. The host shut us down because we were slowing down the server and the other sites. The board is going over options but we only have 2 more days to make a decision. Currently we pay roughly a $100 a year for this service. We are now talking about $500 to a $1000 to upgrade. We ask that you bare with us until we find a solution. Good news is we are growing as an organization and that is a good thing. Shane
  7. Until we fix our server issues the board has decided to temporarily suspend the use of Tapatalk and Forum Runner. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience. Shane
  8. Welcome aboard! My tip would be two parts: Research, Research, Research!!!!!! Ask lots of questions. Shane
  9. I would imagine Jen or Jay would have this. I have never seen an official memo or club letterhead.
  10. Sad Day Well this tank has seen its last day. With the schedule we are running it just wasn't possible to maintain it like we needed to. So it all came down today. Corky our clown serial killer and last remaining occupant is now being housed in a much larger aquarium where I am sure he will continue his killing ways. Good riddence you (cussing)!!!!! It was fun while it lasted. Thanks for reading and making this an entertaining thread. Shane
  11. I use a blueline pump which I think is just a relabled Pan World pump. Awesome pump, very quiet. Just remember to perform maintenence on it every so often.
  12. That is a very nice piece. Lucky you!!!!
  13. I won the turquoise blue zoas - 545647 Thank you to Kim and Beth for putting this together and to everyone who participated in this and a big thank you to the sponsors that donated the prizes. Shane
  14. It does in my tank but mine is only 48" long. Shane
  15. Where from in Texas? I was stationed in Corpus Christi for 10 years before moving here. I miss Texas a lot. Welcome aboard. You might want to pose your WTB question in the WTB section. Probably get more responses. Shane
  16. My preference is the "Nutrient Export Mode." Push the mode button until light turns purple, and then hit set button once. I run mine about half power, on a standard 90 gallon tank. Wet side will rev up and down for a while and you'll be surprised at the crap that lifts up off the bottom of your tank and my SPS seems to love it. Should really give that mode a shot. Shane

    phoenix 14k

I run (2) SE 250w 14K Phoenix bulbs on a dual galaxy ballast and I have to say they are my favorite bulbs. I like them better then 20k radiums. Great colors and really nice growth in the 4 months I have been using them.
  18. I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. If there is a continued need for a resolution please take it off board via email or PM. So move along folks nothing to see here.
  19. Go with the MP40W ES. It is hands down one of the best things I put in my tank. The nutrient export mode is awesome and all my corals love it. Shane
  20. Instead of a live fish why not use something like a fresh "dead" shrimp for three or four days or if you can find pure ammonia use a couple capfuls of that. Both of those will jump start the process. Shane
