Thanks for the information John, that is the reason why I bought my odyssee skimmer and had my skilter sit in the gargage from months. I dont think I need anymore skimming, I just need the white stuff on surface to be clear in my tank. This modified will acting more likely a return pump or more water flow in my tank (whistle)

I seen other had done it... here is a picture of other people modified.

Hello all, Last two months I've been using paper towels, 1 at the time laying across the surface of the tank and wipe it off the top to remove surface proteins. I was searching and hoping that someone out there coming up with a surface skimmer, but couldn't find any hang on the back of the tank. I am thinking about using my spare Skilter 250 and turn it into surface skimmer with little modify. I am thinking about cutting out the intake pipe and connect it to a U shape pipe to have the intake facing half above the water line. I dont have any tools at home, plus this is going to be my fist DIY project and I don't have much experience or faith in myself yet. If anyone here have the tool to cut couple piece of plastics and want to work with me around half an hour, please PM me. Thanks in advance.

Thanks dsoz, so is this 40B is an actual 40 gallons tank? What is the demension on this tank does anyone know?

I saw a topic in here and other forums talks about buying 40B, almost everybody want to buy at 40B for their next project. I am just curious what is a 40B? and what so special about it? Not like I am going to convert my new setup tank to 40B but I just want to know.... please let me know... Thanks.

At this point I just cross my fingers waiting for Coralline to grow. Adding addictive stuffs into my tank make me feel nervous, maybe I had bad experience from freshwater tank.

Lets me take some pictures of my closed up tank and use photoshop to edit all the xenia for you to see dsoz (I have a vision he he he) I am working this weekend. Will upload some pictures by Monday. All the corals I got from you they all on top of my mountain rocks, two xenias and two other trees are on the bottom...

How long does it take for purple Coralline to grow? I dont think my LR ever turn into purple color. (sad).
