  1. If anyone is heading over there, would you mind telling the owner about the forums? Feel free to give them my Email address....jen.rourk@gmail.com. I'd love to talk to them about being a sponsor.
  2. I'd like you to know that I have an unshakable grossed out feeling now.....pecks and then wriggles up its what now?? Seriously, I'm gonna have nightmares now.
  3. ACK!! Wish I had seen this on Friday! I just drove from the Eugene area to Gold Hill and spent the weekend there! Totally would have provided coral transport! Next time...... Miles, i'm interested in a green frag......
  4. Eric, I will forward this thread to a friend of mine who has 2 ferrets currently. He is a fantastic ferret home and I'd definitely trust him with a couple more. They get run of his house daily, sleep in a "ferret mansion" at night, and he definitely treats them like family. I'll get back to you when I hear more from him! Is there a cost associated with them? That is a question I'm sure he'll ask.
  5. Re: I HAVE BLUE BOOBIES!!!! I opened it to see if it was about a bird..... The blue footed boobie!
  6. Wahoo! The official photo arrived today! I'm so excited to see it! Thankfully the dog looks good so please disregard her handler's (aka...me) unkempt appearances! Twas the end of a long weekend! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  7. As strange as it sounds, I'll take all of the dogs. We use them pretty regularly for silent auction baskets for the freestyle club that I'm in. Any of the ones that you don't sell....if you want to, my mom works in the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and they use the beanie babies to prop up tubes and things on the teeny babies. If you end up wanting to donate any of them, they can always use more. The babies get to take them home when they leave the NICU, which is kinda special for the families. The only qualification is that they have to be clean. Let me know if you want to unload some and I'll get them to my mom.
  8. Gotcha, no problem. Paypal doesn't tell me your user name on the forum, just your real name and address. Its not written anywhere to include your user name, and I usually just Email the request, but since there were several people I decided to post here. We'll get you fixed up. No worries!
  9. If you have paid for a new membership and have not received your member's access, please PM me with your full name and approximate date of paypal payment. For any who are thinking of becoming a paid member, I won't try to sell you on it now (although there are some great things about being a member....just check out the zoa thread), but I will ask that you PLEASE put your forum user name in the comment's section so I know who you are! Then you get your access faster! Thanks a bunch!
  10. Very similar. Mine had less prominent banding on it's body, but definitely had the spines on the sides. Evil suckers!
  11. Oh it definitely would have. I probably spent $100 feeding that sucker. I just kept buying new snails since all of my tests were coming back normal.....Stupid sand sifting star! Extremely effective hunter though....
  12. hahaha! I had a sand sifter that did that too! I couldn't figure out why all of my snails were dying. Finally I decided that I wanted to get rid of the thing and when I brought him to Garrett I was informed that this was my snail problem! Sure enough, I haven't had any more snail problems since the little booger was evicted....now he lives in Garrett's sump..... destined to be harlequin shrimp food!

    LOST

Ah, but then there's always hulu....... I was pretty sad that there wasn't a new episode last night. Always good to see Richard though.....
  14. The trouble with auto feeders seems to arise when there is a blip in the power and the feeders re-set themselves....or there is a mechanical malfunction in the feeder. Calculated risks.....
  15. They totally should have coral championships! That'd be fun! Lol Thanks everyone for the congrats! I am very proud of Tag. What I didn't mention is that Tag is 6 years old, and technically a veteran. She was the only aussie veteran so she competed against much younger dogs, and still took best of breed on Saturday. That said, the group class was won by a 9 year old corgi! It was amazing! Absolutely stunning little dog she was too. This is why I prefer the international circuit to the AKC, less politics, and the judges really look at the quality of the dog....regardless of age or the handler. Plus we get to see how our dogs stack up to dogs around the world, instead of just in the states.
  16. I would first like to pre-face that I am writing on behalf of myself, and not on behalf of the board or the officers as I have not discussed this reply with them. Although I'm quite sure that they feel the same way. Kim, I am sorry that anything said on this forum has offended or hurt you. No one should be made to feel that way. Everyone, this is a family forum about saltwater aquariums and matters relating to them. Please do not abuse this out of bounds space. If you have a puppy, gardening, Tv, movie, car question.....post it here. If you have a little johnny joke that would make my mother blush or a comment that could be interpreted as discriminatory.....take it somewhere else. I thank all of you for being adults about all of this and respecting what this club is about.
  17. Lol, I actually loved that movie, only because its so true! There totally are those nutso people....although I'll tell ya. Dog people may be eccentric, but they are WAY more normal than horse people.... Thanks for the congrats everyone. I'm beyond tickled with this dog. She is truly perfect dog! Algae- I have space in class! Let me know! We'd love to have you!
  18. I wanted to share that this weekend I showed in conformation for my first time. I've actively competed in several other dog sports, but never in conformation (the beauty pageant type dogs). Well, this weekend I took my dog Tag out and wouldn't you believe it? She finished an International Championship in a weekend! She even took best of breed on Saturday! I'm so proud of my kiddo! Brains and beauty! Introducing Int'l Ch Ironhorse Antz in her Pantz....... Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  19. I have on the occasion forgotten to feed for nearly 2 weeks. I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis, but they will survive as long as they're healthy coming into it. Besides, periods of fasting or food shortage are normal natural events. Aren't we all about simulating nature? ;-)
  20. Oh yeah! And be sure to find a great puppy class. Check out Dogs at Play, and Sharon Gretch of The Prodigal Dog in Eugene. If you're willing to drive, I have space in my Monday night 6:30PM puppy class and would be happy to get you enrolled. Information is on the website.
  21. There are some tips and tricks on my company's website for raising a new puppy www.wonderdogsonline.com, please feel free to check those out. As far as leash training goes, remember that there is only one reason that dogs pull......we follow them. Imagine what would happen if we just stopped? Would the dog check back in to see why in the heck you're not coming too? Probably. When that happens, reward! In my classes I teach a method called "stop and go" walking. If the dog's flank passes your knee (or tail for small dogs), stop all forward motion and immediately move backwards a few feet. The leash will get tight, and that's ok. Help the dog back onto your side by encouraging it with your hands (patting your leg or using a hand signal) and continue walking. You neighbors will think you're nuts for a while because you will look like a yo-yo.....but later they will be envious that your dog doesn't pull. I also remind classes that leash walks are not a very good way to exercise a dog. All dogs were bred with a purpose, and most of those purposes had intense exercise requirements (ex...herding dogs were bred to work 75 miles at a trot every day of their lives). Leash walks are for you, so exercise the dog before you put the leash on. If you have a yard, fetch is a great way to do that. If you don't, food bowling in a hallway is another great way (with the dog's meals, stand in the center of the hallway. Throw a kibble down one direction, as the dog returns, pitch another kibble the other way. Let the dog build up some speed, it's the stopping and the turning that will tire them out). Then when the dog is exhausted, clip the leash on and do your leash training. Generally I do not give an opinion regarding certain popular punishment based trainers, but I do suggest looking into potential consequences of using a punishment based method to train. Its not always pretty. There really are only 2 reasons that dog's don't comply, the first is that they don't understand. The second is that they do not have a strong enough reinforcement history in the situation you are asking them to perform in. Both of those are a handler's fault, and neither are fair to punish for. If you want to read some really great books about positive reinforcement training, check out Karen Pryor "Don't Shoot the Dog," or Patricia McConnell "The Other End of the Leash." There is also an entire page of references (both book and web pages) on the Wonder Dogs website. Hope this helps. Feel free to PM with more questions. I'm happy to help.
  22. I tend to believe the best of people. This is one of those situation where I feel like most people are more good than not. Thank you to whomever you are. I understand temporary lapses in judgement. They happen. Thank you for doing the right thing. Frank and Sherri, I am so happy that you got the rings back. woohoo!
  23. Hey! I love my little 6-line! Granted I just got him, so he hasn't had a chance to develop a 'tude. I really like my starry blenny too. Great personality, hearty eater, and I love his little bushy "eyebrows."
  24. Every time I head over to Garrett's, I leave with a lot less money but tons of cool stuff! This time was no exception. I brought in some pumps to trade, had no idea what they were worth, and Garrett made sure to do a credit that was fair....even though I wouldn't have known either way. The snail, zoas, and 6-line are all doing well. You were right Garrett, that wrasse is a pig! And the zoas are already growing! I'm totally stoked. Thanks again! As always, a stand up guy and a premium business. :-)
  25. If any non-members are joining to get in on this grow out, please PM to let me know so I can be sure your membership gets instated stat! Thanks!
