not getting any responses? this is weird. eric if you are too busy to send the frag to me, that is fine...i totally understand, no hard feelings. after reading about others' sick corals, probably not worth sending a sick frag, hoping it will live. shipping cost will be more than its worth. any chance i can get my entry fees back?

thanks miles. i may end up cutting a u-shape out of the drain bucket, allowing me to direct which way the water flows. i would make the water flow toward the end furthest away from the return bucket. i plan to have my skimmer feeding back into the drain bucket in order to recycle some of the water through the sump.

just wanted to point out that aptasia x only kills what you squirt it directly on. it wont kill anything just from being in the tank with it. i personally like a few peppermint shrimp and some aptasia x together.

So I think it's time for an update. On tuesday I received my new pump (reeflo barracuda) and my new controller (AC Jr). I dont have the controller set up but the plumbing is mosty done. Due to the high cost of acrylic I decided to custom fit some salt bucket baffles. In the picture showing the sump the closest pic will be the drain, and is about 2" higher than the return bucket, which will determine the water level of the entire sump. Should work out pretty well, IMO. Below the tank, going down to the From the floor to the sump in the basement: And the sump: I also got some new rock, that has some very interesting shapes, so I redid my rockwork. It is finally starting to look like something I like. Not quite perfect, but better. Of course any comments or suggestions are always appreciated, everyone has a different eye for aquascaping.

I dont know if I would trust anything besides Type I. It is the only one that doesnt mention mold inhibitors. The others may or may not have them, but I wont chance it, especially since the type I is the cheapest anyways. The odor smells like vinegar, which I think it is, because vinegar on your finger keeps the silicone off, and probably keeps the silicone plyable. Miles, you probably are right. Why have it on the label advertising and selling the stuff cheap, when you can cut the bottle size in and charge 4x the price.

Ok, so I found the scoop. It is safe. They used to advertise that it was aquarium safe, but since have dropped that claim. They didn't want to spend the money researching and validating their claim of aquarium safe. They also decided to CYA on the deal and put the disclaimer on there, removing liability. After reading an email from a GE rep, it is safe, but must be fully cured.

After doing a little research GE Silicone 1 is recommended by many. Most people suggested anything that is 100% silicone and had no anti-mold characteristics, but GE Silicone 1 came up more than others as the recommended silicone. So I went and bought some, fixed up my whole sump baffling with it. Then was reading the label to see how long it takes to dry and it said not to use on aquariums. Here is the exact wording: Not for surfaces that will exceed 400 degrees F, conditions where FDA compliance is necessary, or aquariums. Is this because it isn't reef safe, or because they dont want to be liable for it being strong enough to hold an aquarium together. It says 100% silicone, and unlike other silicones I looked at today, it mentions nothing of preventing mold or mildew. Says "Standard Waterproof Caulk"

Ya, sounds like a touchy connection somewhere, like when the car wont start and you wiggle the cable and all the sudden it starts again. All you can do is completely tear it apart and hope you find something and fix it. If not it may be a mystery. Where's SamatSLS when you need him?

Haven't heard anything on how/when/if my frag is coming. If you plan to send 2-day shipping I would make sure it gets out Wednesday by noon, or wait till next week on Monday because I would hate for it to get stuck in a shipping warehouse over the weekend.

wow what is up with these chalice gardens? not quite the same appeal as the acan gardens, IMO. i must say roy, you have a lot of sweet stuff.
