  1. Yeah, but I don't have a sump and there's no way with my flow or aquascaping that I have any cryptic areas that can house enough filter feeders to filter my tank. Nutrient export has to be done by water changes - and a skimmer.
  2. I don't care what the excuse or reason...ANY ballot measure wanting to raises taxes gets an automatic vote of "NO" from me.
  3. Couldn't do it lol. It's on there. I just kept thinking about the black tea that I pull every week with it and my poor critters having to live in that. I figured if I have it sitting here I may as well use it. Thank for all the input though.
  4. You should get one..they're awesome. Amazons are great talkers...some of the amazons can have huge vocabs. Grays can mimic the exact pitch and tone of the voice they are "using". My gray can switch mid sentence from my voice to my hubbys to my sons and there's no doubt at all who is talking they don't sound like "parrots". They are also unbelievable mimics of sounds from water running to the microwave. I have to keep changing my cell phone ring tone because Pep gets it down pat in a week...there's NOTHING more annoying than running for your phone only to find out it's the bird lol. Pep goes outside all summer into a huge aviery we made for her so she's got all the native birds perfected too (yup...and dog barks, cat meows and the ponies whinny !
  5. Clay you won't regret getting one. I have the small gray (Timneh) all the gray species have the same talking ability. Just just got up and mine's talking up a storm... "would you care for a little popcorn" "here maggie, come here, good dog, good girl" now he's coughing - that's ANNOYING - she's making fun of me having swine flue hehehe "what would you like, would you like something" hahaha never stops (laugh) Here's a tip for you if you really want one that may talk....make sure you buy one that is right handed. It's easy to tell, just like humnas they will favor one hand when holding things. The speech center of the brain is on the left so you want a right handed bird.
  6. Downsized from the 29 to a 20H yesterday and today Put the evil spawn rock in my 10.
  7. HAHAHA yeah...been there done that hahaha. Pep is the same...gabs for HOURS until the video shows up...you can't even hide it lol. A few minutes ago she had a phone call...mimics the ring perfectly, answers and has a one sided conversation DOH!(laugh) bbbrrriiinnngggg "Hello, oh hello oh yeah, oh wow, okay, love you too Bye" (click)
  8. I had a good giggle when the Arizona students came down on to the field - writing us off with just a minute or so to go - that was so sweet to see their faces when WE WON (rock2)(laugh) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_hrjpe1VCNg (clap)
  9. Thanks guys. It's hard not to use one after using one for so long but I just set the tank up without it (scary) There are only 2 fish (Jigsaws) and I do a 30% water change a week. I don't have any SPS so I think I'll be okay.
  10. Got a Yamaha generator...hubby bought one big enough to run everything on my tank, the freezer a portable heater and a light (for us - not the halide). Never ever needed it but it sure is nice knowing there's never a worry.
  11. I'm going to try...of course getting parrot, cat and horses all together at the right time for another "take" is going to be hard:D
  12. Finishing my move down from my 29 to a 20H today and I have a question. I've always run my tank with a skimmer (AquaC remora) but I'm thinking -just because of where I want to put my 20 - of running this tank skimmerless...oh it's scarey. I feel like I'm skydiving without a spare chute lol. I'm religious about water changes (5 gallons a week) I know this is an age old question but are any of you nano folks running skimmerless and how's things going? I skim wet and when I look at what I'm pulling out I can't imagine leaving that in...maybe I just answered my own question DOH!
  13. I know the full impact of this won't come across but anyone who has a parrot will appreciate this.... just snapped this shot (and yes it's snowing up a blizzard in Redmond this morning) This is my African Gray parrot....she's been yelling all morning "here kitty, kitty, here kitty, kitty" SO the cat comes....then the parrot yells "go away bad kitty, go away....here horsey horsey, here horsey horsey" HAHAHAHHAHA. Maybe I'll have to youtube her because it's just hilarious
  14. Arsonmfg- gonna give it a shot thanks. John...can you believe my precious clam bit the dust (sad) If I get a bunch and Glenns not home...I'm calling you lol. I'll do black widows...I'll even do the odd rattlesnake but there's no way I'm doing worms
  15. Oh Arsonmfg that's a new one to me. I'm willing to give it a try. I have some blue shrooms and a colony of green palys and a colony of mohawk wannabes that I was going to try to remove first. I think all of the worms are in this one rock. Thanks.
  16. Thanks..I'm sorry too. Well I'm with you on removing the rocks...you'll be glad you're not in my kitchen at the moment. I'm emptying my 29...moving everything to my 20H and then I'm going to sit the huge worm rock in a dish of water and watch those suckers run for their lives lol. Not a chore I was planning today but I do want more clams and I'm NOT putting one in there while those evil spawn are alive and kicking
  17. I'm heartbroken. I came to this country 27 years ago from England/Scotland and you'd be hard pressed to find a more loyal American (yup, I came here legally and am now a U.S. citizen) Last weekend at the Ducks game they announced for all the vets to stand up...I think I cheered so loudly I lost some hearing lol. I don't know if this friend in near you or in another state....if he's here...PLEASE, PLEASE see if you can get a network of past firends going to make sure he's safe and I mean safe from himself. Suicide is a real issue and it sounds like your friend is hitting rock bottom I hope the loss of his kids isn't the last straw. My heart breaks for this brave, brave man who joined the service to protect and defend us ALL (sad)(sad)(sad)
  18. Well, didn't catch any over night with both traps grrrr. There's one huge rock that has holes all through it...it seems to be loaded with them and they're huge (scary) SO today the rock is coming out. That may have to be my revenge hahah dry the little suckers (whistle)
  19. I knew I saved that wedding dress for something (whistle) and LOOKIE...the little angel is coming out for dinner ...you have NO idea how hard it was to edit this pic with the worm in it lol Wish me luck lol
  20. HAHAHA thanks for making me laugh, I needed that lol. I think hub is enjoying this..he keeps looking in the trap for worms. I'll try the veil idea...that sounds like it would work well. Thanks
  21. Yup, all vacant with a contractors lock box that I put on the door. Many have attached resumes. I've edited half already with a polite e-mail back...just because of extremely poor spelling/grammer. I figure if you respond to my ad. asking for someone concerned with "attention to detail" and you tell me you're all about "attention to detail" but you don't bother to use spell check...well, you know! A couple didn't have cars so they were out. Everyone has sent a phone number but before I call I want to narrow it down some more. I have some Q's I want to ask so I'll copy a number of e-mails and see if I can shorten my list.
  22. I really appreciate the advice and I know it's hard because you can't see my tank. All of my params are 100% perfect. Up to 9 pm last night this clam was looking awesome. If it was going to drop dead it sure didn't have a reason to as far as water quality...light...visible disease or anything else that I can think of (sad) There's been no difference in how fast it reacts to movement near it, position in regards to light, no sign of PM in it or the others. I feed the tank with Rods Original so nothing's been introduced...and everyone else in the tank is thriving. The two clowns don't even go near it so it hasn't beenn bothered. So frustrating DOH!
  23. Wow, you sure see how our economy is when you have a job position available. I placed an ad. on Craigslist/Bend this morning and have had 37 e-mails so far.
  24. Thanks everyone for the help. I'm really sad - this little clam was such a magnificent animal. Hubby tried the "just the law of the jungle" pep talk but I still feel bad. I really had no idea a bristle worm could completely wipe out a healthy clam over night to the point where there was almost nothing left. You often hear people say they're helpful scavengers but seriously after this I think I'd rather have a more sterile environment and keep my tank clean with high flow and filters....I mean I love pit bulls but I wouldn't be putting one in the field with my 2 1/2 ft high horse 'cus he'd get eaten and it would be all my fault.(sad)
