Figured this would make somebodies christmas...

"Striped Tamarin Wrasse" to be exact.

A beautiful fish that is almost impossible to keep... From the little I know about them they are quite a bit more difficult than the red tailed tamarin wrasse which most know do not survive more than 6 months in an aquarium usually, even with expert care.

There are quite a few people that have had overflowing issues, the trick I've found is to cut the outlet pipe about a half inch above the transition to the neck.

No more overflow problems...

What this does is allows the skimmer to overflow out the top of the outlet pipe if there is a rise in pressure instead of causing the water in the chamber to rise too high in the neck.

I honestly don't know why the overflow happen but this solves the problem completely.

When I go by the school later this week I'll take a few pictures if you need.

I have the 250 as well but I got it before they had the option of the Askoll so I have the one with the dual Sicce pumps.

By far the best bang for the buck imo.

I'm really happy with the skimmer and the amount of nasty junk it pulls.

I've decided that I'm going to wait to do another large tank till we buy a new house and focus on my nano build this winter.

Good plan on putting the center brace back in, the glass on there looks to thin to be safe trimless with no center brace. The last thing you want is 150 gallons of saltwater flooding your house!

I used this to get a mantis out of some rock that was impossible to trap... Got the mantis out and a whole lot of other inverts that were in the rock, two decent sized worms and a whole lot of bristle stars.

The huge change in ph will drive them out pretty quickly though and it won't (totally) kill your rock.

I'm going to be ordering some next week... I've been following that thread on rc and I think I want to give them a try since the mb7 and biofuel have caused a cyano outbreak in the cube tank.

I'll keep everyone posted once they get here along with the results seen over some time.

If you have them isolated to one rock at the moment have your hubby grab about 5-6 two liters of soda water from the local store, safeway usually has them for pretty cheap.

Dump the soda water into a bucket, pull the rock and drop it in... wait about 30 min shake and swish the rock in the water and you'll have a bucket with your dead worms in the bottom.

Rinse the rock with some ro water and drop it back in your tank and smile knowing all the evil worms just died cause of the worst PH spike ever...

DONE DEAL...

Just make sure there is nothing on the rock that you want to keep, corals etc... The soda water will kill most of your coraline but it doesn't take long to get it back. The soda water will damage the bacteria on the rock but as long as its back in your tank with healthy live rock it will re populate the bacteria and be back to normal in a few months.

Coral banded shrimp will usually make quick work of worms as well.

You'd have to give it a better inspection to make sure it's not tempered cause I'm honestly not sure but you can't really beat the price...

I tore down a 75g AGA tank to use the glass panels to build a small nano tank. I don't have any use for the base piece of glass and thought someone might want it for a similar project.

The piece is 48x18 x 1/4, I'm not positive if it's tempered or not since I only checked it briefly with a pair of polarized sunglasses, from a quick glance the glass isn't tempered but no guarantees. According to AGA some of their bases are tempered and some are not.

Anyways, if your interested it's free for the taking although a little frag of something colorful won't be turned down either.

I just posted two different sumps in the classified section. One of them might work for you...

I have two different sumps that I won't be using anymore.

Both are 24x12x16

First one is an Eshopps sump that has been drilled with two bulkheads, 1.5" for an external pump and a 1" for a skimmer return if using an external skimmer. Both have plugs in them right now. SOLD

The other is just your basic sump, not sure on the brand, could use a good cleaning but a solid good sump. $50

So did you get HD to agree to do this? Do they even still carry it? (I've seen posts that indicate they may not) If not you undermined the work I've been putting into trying to get a group buy going to no avail, If you have then this is great news.

 

Arsonmfg, that price is high. I've found it for less per bag and a good bit closer than New Jersey. Still not close enough as the shipping is still outrageous even if I order a ton of it. (Until this thread I had enough interest to order at least a ton and perhaps more once a group buy was started)

Rick, you obviously seem to know more about this stuff than most... I would think if you were able to order enough of it you could have it shipped freight through a shipping company for a decent price if you could get someone to load it on a pallet so it could be shipped properly

I'd say scratch the lionfish and go for a grouper... Probably make quicker work of it.
