SUMP,PUMP and SKIMMER BUMP IN THE NIGHT

I respect your opinion I respect your opinion and the opinion of others who have had great success with their system. I thank you for your ideas, but I made my system for 98% SPS only. My tank is a cube. 2’ and the canopy is 16” tall so I have lots of room for that size of a light. At first I thought the same thing and was using a 250W MH, but I was not very happy with the type of light it would put out. So I up grade to the single 400W MH and it works just great. Maybe you are right… Maybe I cooking my stuff. Thank you so much for your time Nyles. Have a great one.

I am lost. I have a 400W MH in my tank... just looking to add some T5 for the days that it gets to hot to run the MH. So I don't need to use my chiller all summer long.

I got a sump with build in refugium 24X16X16. Got a GEN X. PCX 40 that I don't longer use. External pump. Plus I have a PM skimmer with a Gen X water pump its a wheel pump for the skimmer. I would like gone by the weekend. All offers are welcome. Here is the picture of the skimmer and pump.

Q and A 1. Is this the MRC CR-1 model and does it come with the spray bar? (yes it is the CR-1. No there is no spray bar. you could pick that up from their site if you want it. I never have liked them) 2. Is the the unit a reverse flow model (water circulates from the bottom to the top)? ( The water circulates from the top down, but I think you can reverse the pump on it.) 3. Is the pump currently mounted to the bottom plate? (I might want to upgrade the pump) (no the pump is not mounted to the plate. I used some silicon to hold the pump down. I just removed it. It's nice and clean now) 4. What size tank were you running it on, what did you have(LPS, SPS) and what calcium levels were you achieving?( yes I do have LPS and SPS and soft corals. I had my set to 440 when I first got it and I was adjusting it, it made it pass 500 and ALK was of the wall. I will be more then enough for your system. I have 60G up top and 20G sump. I have a cube system and my sump is a good size so I wanted something small to place in the sump system. So I down grade my skimmer and Calcium reactor) 5. Do you have any of the other gear that's needed to run the reactor? (CO2 Bottle, regulator) ( I don't have any more for the reactor other then the 7LBS or ARM that I am adding with the unit. WTS I have a few things I will like to sale. 1. A MRC calcium reactor. Comes with a MAG 2 pump and I will even through in a 7lbs of ARM to get you going. Asking $150 for it 2. A PM protein skimmer. 8” across 24” tall I will through in a Gen X 4100 with a needle wheel. Asking $100 3. An external pump. I got a velocity T4 Pump. After lots of reading and thinking about what to replace my current skimmer with, I came up with the conclusion that I would pick up a RPS-1000 for my system. For the price and what I been told they can do it came down to the RPS for me. Skimmer Thanks everyone. Joel just said it best. Need to big of a pump and it make lots of bobbles that return to my tank? I have slow down my return so much because of it. Plus it makes lots of noise. Since I lost the valve for it. Thank you all for speaking out. I think you have made my decision a lot easer. Frank

Hello everyone, I have been thinking about replacing my Bullet PM skimmer for an aqua c EV120 or a PC RPS 1000 skimmer. I have been reading up on both of them, they both have lots good stuff that I like but I am not sure wish one will be the best for my tank and my money. I have spoken to some of the people at LFS and they all tell you “I don’t know or this one that I have is better”. So I wanted to ask the people that use them and won’t push smoke up my CULO. I am asking for what I should get and what if any of you have ever used ether one of the two skimmers. Thanks for your time Frank PS my tank is a 80G total.

I think I need a smaller skimmer for my system. I have a large PM Skimmer that I need to replace. The PM I got is about 6” to 8” cylinder. The thing is a beast. I need something much smaller for my system. My tank is only 60G up top and 20G bellow. I will trade or buy one if the right type of skimmer. I would like to get one that is small but that will be able to pull everything out of the water. Let me know what you got and how much or if you want to trade. (plotting) Thanks everyone.
