  1. With finishing up breaking down the tank it’s time to sell the live rock.

asking $3/lbs for the standard pieces and $200obo for the custom designed piece with all the frag holes and shelves(left side). Most of the rocks have left overs from the colonies and it will probably regrow

    probably about a 100lbs total.

Great set up, awesome guy. Beautiful corals. Wish I had more room in my tank.
Pictures definitely doesnt do this tank any justice. Hes got all size of corals from frags to huge colonies. Cant beat the price too.
    Thanks Junior.

Thank you. Hope the brain fits in the tank...

Going to start fragging the colonies tomorrow and offering them up by Thursday afternoon. I have heard from more than one person that the colonies are just too big but everyone wants pieces.

What lighting are you using?  Many years ago I had one under 10-14k halides that was bright yellow.  Could it be possible that they don't get that intense yellow color under bluer leds?

I think that might be a possibility. I run an LED hybrid set up but stay on the higher end of kelvin.

  6. Thank you for the info and appreciate the help.

May have to find it a new home because its in a high demand spot and is now 9-10" across. I was running 18-20ppm nitrates and .1-.12 phosphates for a bit because I didn't have time for it the tank and still didn't get much color. Higher nutrients of course started to dull the sps and I have since slowly dropped back to 4-5ppm nitrates and .05 phosphates.

  7. I've been busy and neglecting my tank, but finally getting back to it. Unfortunately as most know ignoring them doesn't end well. Had to trim back a lot of dead areas on corals, but one is annoying me. The rest will recover quickly.

Well over a decade ago I had yellow Fiji and was always able to get great color.

Added the one pictured about 2 years ago, bought from cuttlefish as a yellow figi leather for a premium price, and it mainly just sat on a back edge behind my rock work since then. I moved it up to its current spot in the hopes of generating that intense yellow I had in the past but its been there for 6 months and only a light yellowish color. Par is 250-300 in that area at peak of day.

Almost considering pulling it, if its going to stay dull.

Are the old fiji's just gone and these new ones just this boring barely yellow?

  8. Good luck with the pump.

As suggested above silicone grease is a must but they come heavily greased. I have been using the peristaltic tubing from amazon, it's only $10 for a long line of it, and cutting it to fit. I get about 800-1000 hours out of each line and use the same zip tie size it comes with. Make sure to cut the lengths at 77mm and tubing size is 3mm/5mm.

I had some sound when above 20ml/min, but now running at 6ml/min. I lowered the ph in my reactor and slowed the pump down. Ended up with same over all alk out and less effluent going in. Less effluent helped with ph levels. My tank has been at 10.5dkh with no more than a .2 swing for the last 4 months and that pump is the reason why.
