  1. I think that animal house here in corvallis might have one. You might want to give them a call.
  2. I think that 6-8" would be good for height, but really you just need the lights off high enough so that you don't have any heat issues, or water splashing on the bulbs.
  3. Make sure you get good reflectors for your light. They are one of the most important things. You can hard mount the reflectors to the top of the canopy so that you can open it. Probably two 3-4" fans with two more outlets would be good for circulation. You can use a heavy duty piano hinge for it so that it can swing open, just make sure that it is going to be stable.
  4. booster pump would be a waste of money, at least with the systems that I know of. I got mine off of ebay, I think from dvoneb, and it only requires 40 psi feed.
  5. Most likely the version that you found is an upgrade version that is cheaper, but requires a previous version of windows to install it. I guess you could say that it is microsofts way of being nice to their current customers and trying to make them want to upgrade.
  6. windows xp is just the newest version of windows. so xp is your operating system. You have all the monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. right?
  7. I think that this would work really well for a 20L since it is such a shallow tank. Esp. since you can get the light close to the surface and the corals won't be that far from the light, giving you the option of keeping about anything you want.
  8. wow...I just realized this is what all of my frags are mounted on.
  9. Sorry guys, I'm not much of a sports guy but I only have one thing to say: GO BEAVS! I still like rooting for the beavs and giving ducks a hard time though. Hopefully we do well this year. It's always good to hear when our football team is doing really well.
  10. Don't forget about the cost of your apps and OS, unless you already have them. Windows, photoshop, office, and other programs like that are not cheap. Just something to keep in mind.
  11. I think that this one would work great. Radeon is a good chipset (I have one in my laptop and love it) and 512mb would be plenty for what you want to do.
  12. Looks like a good one, but you may be able to get away with a 256mb video card. But if you can get it, that one would be nice.
  13. I don't think that you need to look into dual video cards unless your going to use your comp for gaming. What you had listed, but in a PCIexpress would work great for editing.
  14. Alright guys, thanks for clearing that up. I was under the impression that had to run a 64-bit OS, but I don't actually have experience the the athlon 64 though I have heard good things about them. So I guess you don't actually have to run 64-bit windows. I do agree with impur on the case and a good heatsink/fan combo. Keeping your computer cool can extend the life of it by quite a bit and keep it running at its best. I think that the AMD processor would do really well for you if you are just planning on doing photo editing. Since you said that you are more on a budget, I would go with the better case and skip the dual core if price is the issue. The dual core just allows you to process two things at once instead of being limited to one thing at a time with normal single processors. I don't really have much experience with them, but know that they are really good if you need to really use a good processor.
  15. if someone just wants the tank + stand i'll take $35, you pick up
  16. Looks good. One thing that you really need to watch out for is that the processor that you have listed is a 64-bit. So you need to make sure that everything is compatable with it, esp. the motherboard and the operating system. You will need to get the 64-bit windows, and you may not be able to run all programs, since some aren't 64-bit compatable. Personally I think it would be better to stay away from the 64-bit, but that's just me, if you want it, then go for it. You might also want to include the price of windows in your budget though, since the price of windows is quite high. HTH
  17. i got some synthetic steel wool from the local hardware store. seems to work so far, but haven't got my skimmer done yet to check.
  18. Thanks, I'll have to stop by there next time I'm in portland.
  19. Very nice, wish I had teachers that had reef tanks set up for teaching. Got any pics?
  20. Im interested in the anemone and maybe some coral, where are you located at?
  21. Pretty sure that the bottoms on all AGA's are tempered. You could try it if you really want to, but I think it will shatter.
  22. Very nice and very clean! I love my 30g oceanic cube. BTW, which school are you going to?
  23. They weren't in a group when I bought them, but I thought that they were small enough to both be juv. or male. I'm pretty sure that the larger one is turning female and is continuing to grow while the other is staying the same size. I was just wondering about some of the behaviors that they were exhibiting. Thanks
