  1. Free camera is a free camera. it does fine outdoors and for normal stuff but the macro function is not so good. Being a photographer by trade you'd think I'd have posted pictures by now, but it's kind of like how the mechanic's car never runs. To tired at the end of the day, last thing I want to do is take another pic. Frags doing great, Thank You.
  2. Ya that's what I've read about them too. My lcuk they will never touch the stuff, I get lucky like that. I'm pretty sure I can get the pipes to frozen reasonably quick as well. Any input on flow? Think I should add a powerhead or no?
  3. Already have the rubble rock piles rockin. Tank has been setup since March so they've had time to establish. Rock was sitting in a bin with water and circulation for 7 months prior, I'm pretty happy now I kept up with the feedings. I have tons of pods. Worst case I can culture them. I used to raise reidi seahorses so culturing pods is no new thing, and I have a garage now so that should be easy. Wife never liked all the cultures on the kitchen counters. The 37g I'm plannin on is 30x12x23 I believe. Might be a little off on the height. I already have the stand and canopy so should be easy to just plug in a taller tank.
  4. Thanks Brandon, Almost everything in the tank came from Joel. I did get some stuff from Sean and Miles also, the rock I moved with me last year. Haven't seen a potter's wrasse in Waves for many months. Now that the tank is all setup maybe I'll ask Joel if he'll get one for me. IMO it's the prettiest fish I have seen.
  5. I just wanted to get some input. I've had tanks for many years, but never really any reef tanks, just seahorse tanks wtih softies. After much debate I decided to make my 65g a reef with softies and LPS. Might try another SPS but haven't had good luck so far. I'll get a 37g for the seahorses soon. For fish I was thinking: 1 Kole Tang (know it is pushing it a bit but I'll buy small and trade out if it gets to big.) 1 Leapord wrasse (would like the Potter's but will settle for a bipartus if I never see a Potters again) 1 Bi color blenny (currently the tanks only resident) 1 Pink spotted watchman (moving him over from my 20g) Pair of dragon faced pipefish (Depending on how the pod population keeps up) I would also like to add another clam, currently have a crocea, would like a deresa (again trade out when gets to big) For corals: Currently have 12 zoo frags 2 frogspawn frags 1 hammer frag 1 torch coral frag 1 xenia frag 1 Red gorgonia (non photosynthetic) 2 ric frags 2 Neospongodes frags (more frags coming soon also) Would like to add 1 Brain (wife says I need one) 1 Cynaria How does that sound? Tank is currently lit by T5's. Has a 20g refugium. I also keep macro algaes in the display. Has 2 turbos, 5 astrea's, 5 netrites, and a pair of breeding peppermints. I have a skimmer but haven't turned it on yet, the macro is doing it's job for now. There is a CL pushing 1000 gph, a Seio 620, and the return pump pushes around 400gph. Might add a MJ Mod for some more flow. I'm a little over 30x an hour right now, but the CL runs through spraybars under the rock so it is pretty broken up. Any input? Thanks for your time. Kevin
  6. So I got some frags from Miles. Beautiful! I feel kind of bad because either Miles isn't so good at counting or is extremely generous. I paid for 5 polyps of Eye of Rah but he sent me 7. He also sent me another awesome zoo, as a freebie. I feel like I need to send the guy another check. Everything about the deal was top notch. I am extremely happy with the way it all went and with my ultra cool new frags. I think they are the prettiest zoo's I have ever owned. Thanks Miles. I can't wait until you decided to do some more fragging in the future. We'll definetly do business again. Everything was just awesome. Would recommend anyone do business with him, bit only after I get first pick. (naughty) (plotting) (laugh) (whistle) Thanks again. BTW Miles, apparently free camera are worth every cent, can't get the thing to focus worth a darn. I'll have to bring mine home from work. DOH!
  7. Brandon has an excellent reputation on this site. Letting the comments of one person disuade your preception of a member fo this board with such a long standing positive reputation is short sided IMO. I'm sure you'd love the UV from Brandon, and would enjoy a positive experience as so many others have. As many others have said, there is not a track record of negative experiences here involving Brandon, but just the opposite. I respectfully disagree. What happenend did not happen here. The person that brought it to this board was not even involved in the transaction. That says a lot in and of itself. Holding members accountable to what happens here is very important IMO, but that is not what is going on in this situation. How can we pass judgement wothout knowing all of the details of the situation. It is not our place, nor is it our place to know all the details IMHO. What happenend is between Brandon and the seller, end of story, the rest is just drama. This site is about reefing, not drama. Personally I have done complete charge backs twice. I have also shipped a few hundred boxes out to people all over the country, I have been charged back on myself, three times the situation was out of my control, so I ate it and replaced at my cost. It is the sellers responsiblity to make sure things are properly shipped, not the buyers. The first charge back I made was on a coral order where the corals came with the bags empty of water. I did not feel like I should be held accountable for the shippers neglegence to seal the bags. The second was from a large scale faciltiy. I ordered in January expecting delivery in 2 days. They contacted me a moth later after 15 3mails or so on my part, to put me on a waiting list. 6 months later I came home from vacation with over a $1000 of dead livestock sitting on my door step. No notification from the shipper they were sending my order 6 months later. I would do both again. IMO on both sides of the fence saying the buyer is responsible for shipping is short sited. Both sides carry a responsibility to the purchase. All specualtion to the actions and events that transpires is just that specualtion. It's time to leave the drama and other people's and sites business behind us and get back to what this site is about reefing. JMO.
  8. About time geesh. Someone got a deal of a lifetime.
  9. I do lubricate all of my gaskets on my bulkheads with a product called Plumbers Grease. I buy it at Home Depot. I have been using it for the last 5 years or so and am happy with it. It's like $3. JME
  10. I feed mine around every other day, might do three days in a row sometimes. I squirt in some phyto and then turn the pumps off. That usually gets them to open. Mine take around 20 minutes to open. So after the pumps are off I put the mysis in a cup with tank water to thaw, and hop in the shower (insert other activity). Then I target feed with a turkey baster making sure every polyp gets food. Then I wait another 1/2 hour or so and I feed again. I wait a bit longer until all the food has disappeared and turn the pumps back on. Just what I do, seems to be working so far. I have about 15 new polyps. HTH
  11. Full Sail's Vesuvius is a pretty nice one as well as there Belgium, no one around locally sells it though. The IPA's and Sessions are pretty nice. My wife and I spent the 4th at the Brewery in Hood River, worth the drive if you can stay over.
  12. Jay, I have setup my little shabby environmental gradient sump, without the added critters in my 20g sump on my 65g. Just lot's of LR, no light, no skimmer. I went to pull out a piece of LR for a frag and was shocked at the amount of sponges and other unidentified life thqat was growing on it. So far I deem it a succsess. My nitrates remain at zero and the tank grows no nuissance algaes, corals are thriving. Admitedly the tank has only been setup since March 3,2007 and does house taxifolia in the display. The elements seem to be working well together. I wish I had the space to do what Tyree is actually suggesting. But so far IME it works well. Thanks again for turning me onto it.
  13. Sorry just found the thread. First off you all need to drink better beer. Bud and Coors, homies please I sacrafice a lot to keep a good tank, but not the quailty of beer. Pass the Sam Adams please! Secondly, inside temp got up to 97F, tank never broke 80F. I run the lights at night, and use a couple fo 6" clip on fans. I also left my canopy open for the added ventalation. I was kinda bummed I was hoping I could keep it down to 76, now I have to by a chiller before I can get my seahorses, which I don't feel comfortable keeping over 74F. I know a few more tricks to keep the temps down, but I'm not home enough during the day to make them work. JME
  14. I feel ya. That's why even though I have an RO unit, and extra buckets, and salt mix, I usually just get my water from Waves. It's so cheap if you get the water card, my time is worth more then that. Anyone tells Joel his water is cheap and you get the (enforcer). We don't want him to know. (whistle)
  15. Use a razpr blade and go slowly around the base to remove it. YOu have to go slow and in a cirlce pattern so you don't leave any part of the mushroom behind. If any is left behind it will grow a new mushroom. Putting the mushroom in an area of high flow also works well as teh mushroom will detach and go somewhere else. If you have a epreate little tank to do this with, like a WC bucket then you can keep the mushroom, attach to a piece of rubble rock and trade with a neighbor, the razor blade method is also good for that. If you just want to kill it, blow torch works. HTH
  16. My pink spotted watchman also does not touch the sand bed. JME
  17. If you get to the splitting point, I might be intrested in the Eye of Rah. Good Luck selling them as packs, they are quite nicely priced packs, and worth every penny, I just don't have that much cash.
  18. Still to far for me to drive. Got some car overheating problems at the moment. Good Luck
  19. Wish I lived closer thast Clam is pretty cool.
  20. I guess it's alright. (laugh) (laugh) (laugh) (whistle) (whistle) Thanks looks pretty awesome Joel. Love the rock work. Unless your going to hide the white PVC returns with rock, you might consider painting them. I painted mine purple with the PVC primer and they blend in pretty nicely in the spots where you can see them through the rock. after the coraline fills in it should be cool. Why the grates on the overflow box? Excuse my ignorance. Your plumbing gives me nightmares. That must have been . . . fun. (laugh) Thanks for sharing.
  21. A 12g is not going to work for seahorses. Sorry. Would be great for other stuff.
  22. ???????????????????????????????????? Haven't heard from ya yet?
  23. How big? How long have you had him? Any disease history? What is he eating? Can I pick him up today?
  24. I can't replace a 45 lbs ish rock, but if anyone gets the trade and wants to trade for smaller pieces of rock, or cash LMK. I'd love some frags.
