  1. Hey rich, do you have a link for the mod? I really do like the Euro Reefs...
  2. I really like my quiet one 3000. REALLY quiet, and the exterior cooling fins really do help to cool the pump so it doesn't raise my water temp at all. I think the 3000 is a little more that 400 at 4'
  3. Well, it looks to me, and im no pro, but it looks like the adjusment for the octopus is kinda like the Euro-Reef, where you raise and lower the side pipe to adjust the water level, and if I plumbed that line back to my sump, wouldn't it create alot of backpreasure and make the skimmer really hard to adjust? That is just what I get from looking at the net.. anyone see anything different?
  4. I need to buy a skimmer for my larger tank im setting up. Including sump it will be about 100 gallons. I am going to be plumbing it in externally (space concerns) as I'm using my sump for my fuge. Anyone with eternals that love their skimmers please let me know what brand. I've been thinking of trying the octopus recirculating model, but it looks like a plumbing nightmare.
  5. brown spots are in the sand, not on the glass.
  6. carefull with those cerith snails, A friend of mine had them go plague on his tank, just kept laying eggs and laying eggs.
  7. So i have some brown spots in my sand, up against the glass... not on top, but I figure I need some more sand sifters. I'm thinking of getting a jawfish, and a couple more nassarius snails. Do the jawfish do a good job keeping sand sifted? Any other small fish that do a good job?
  8. Why are you scared of the Tang question Fly?? You know I have that 8 inch Achilles in my 16g nano.
  9. I on the other hand LOVE mine. Super low nutrients... and I don't feed my 2 clowns. Of course I have a rather large refugium attached to my 16g nano Over filtrate. Thats my motto. That way you can never blame anyone but yourself when things go wrong. (whistle)
  10. If your not going to medicate, I'd also try to feed them some garlic. It helps boost their immune system. You can either crush up some garlic and then use the juice to soak their food in, or I just use the food processer to chop it up REALLY fine, and feed it to them with their food. I'd add a powerhead to my tank, maybe just a 100gph or maybe 200 gph.
  11. the blue one is a cartridige with floss on one side (white) and carbon in the middle. IF you put medication in your QT you don't want to have that insert in, because the carbon will absorb most of the medicine.
  12. I would make sure my room had a sink. And a floor drain if possible.
  13. And not just by a little bit either. Why buy a 70 dollar fish... and take any chances with it? Just my thinking.
  14. Your plan sounds good. Do use water from your main tank to fill your new 20g. DON'T put anything in there until you do the same tests as your main tank and everything comes out to 0. Then I'd go ahead to try it out if your ready to put a new fish in your main tank. Get some copper medicine for your QT. I usually just dose my fish as a premptive to them getting disease.. SBK
  15. oh yeah, and DON"T PUT ANY COPPER MEDICINE in there if your going to keep any corals EVER!
  16. Hypo salinity will also kill the ick. If you don't have any corals in there you can try upping your salinity to 1.030 and keep it there for a week. I haven't done it, but my good friend does with his FOWLR tank.
  17. Hey trav... I was thinking of ordering some stuff from you if you'll ship it over here to me. Also does the 3 for 50 frag deal still apply? Let me know, and I'll call in my order. Thanks Trav Van
  18. I know Waves has them if your down for a drive.
  19. So I woke up to this when I got out of bed this morning.... eggs of some sort? Anyone heard of astrea snails laying eggs in your tank? Ideas? Thanks SBk
  20. scoop!??? I don't have any scoop with my salifert kit... and mine doesn't go green... uh.... [language filter]!??!? now I'm worried. All i do is put 2 drops of this blue stuff in, and then add the reagent... anybody?
  21. The type with the rubber seal on them should tighten up to not leak with your hand. Is it as tight as you can get it.
  22. If your rock is fully cured, the process is going to take substantially less time as your rock is already full of bacteria. It just needs to get adjusted to your tank.
  23. no, i got the from a guy named Mark on ebay... and let me tell you, I'd recomend doing business with him to anyone. Really a good guy.
