  1. after playing around with an mp40.....i decided to get one. i immediately regretted it after the price started to set in....but by the time it arrived on my door step i was very excited about trying it out.

and after a few minutes of playing with it, im very pleased with my decision. i had three korallia 4s in the tank, they took up so much visual space and now they are all gone. the vortech puts out so much water movement that every sps in the tank has rapidly moving polyps.

its definitely an expensive toy, but so far i think its a quite the productive piece of equipment.

  2. i tried a navarchus and a flame angel in my 60 gallon reef, both were noticeably destructive to my sps. netting didnt work, no room for a fish trap. the best method ive used to get fish out is to drain all the water out into a garbage can til there is only an inch or so of water left. easy to get any fish.

difficult to do in larger systems.

  3. for the most part everything will be first come first serve. i wont be holding things for long without a firm commitment. the clowns are not for sale at this time. cash will be the accepted payment. ill contact everyone via PM in regards to what theyre interested in. thanks everyone, see you soon!

  4. exactly. very skeptical of a site that claims they have one. zumaboy works for them and he posted several of those bizarre pairs listed on their site on the rareclownfish site several months prior. they dont look like true pairs at all, and instead snapshots of two different species of clowns briefly not killing each other. are you after a particular clownfish?

  5. Everything in this tank needs to go! If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!

  6. what are you hoping to get from them?

i...have my doubts about them. they had a pair of clownfish listed with video, which is great. but they said something like the fish had been in QT 8 weeks prior to being offered for sale...and judging by how fast the fish were breathing i believed the fish were filmed maybe a few days after their arrival and were on their way to rapidly failing in health.

they also list being able to acquire clowns that have never been available commercially or with any sort of realistic frequency.

  7. we too dislike the comcast we have. our home is already wired and ready for frontier, the box and all the equipment is mounted in my garage. but to have them come out and flip a switch or whatever it is they do....is, like steve said, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. ridiculous. i already have everything! there is no way they will be able to compete with comcast with such prohibitive pricing. so....im stuck with comcast as well.

  8. i currently run two korallia evo 4s in my 60 cube, and another 1200 to 1800 gph from my sump, but still am not quite impressed with the flow. i feel like i should have more going through the entire tank. im also not excited about how invasive the korallias are.

so im thinking of getting an mp40 vortech, but have no idea how well it would work in such a confined space. i like the idea of alternating flow amounts up to 3000 gph, but i also dont want to blast off the tissue from my corals. would one mp40 be awesome in the middle of the back pane and take care of all my needs? or would two mp10s be better?

or would the tunze line of little powerheads be a better choice, since i would be able to angle them strategically?

the cube is 24 x 24 x 24 and is/will be crammed with sps. here is a picture from early last year for some reference.

    what are your thoughts?
