  1. Here is something I put together in like 10 mins...just to show that I think a more complex and cooler looking logo can be achieved with some time...Please know that I am not saying this is the one...I just chose a random color and just a quick stroke and drop shadow stuff...just thought I would incorporate the reflection of the logo in the water, cause it has to do with the ocean, and that is what our hobby is all about...

so I guess if more time is a lotted, then I will try to put something together...based on what people would like to see incorporated into it...Or maybe this is not even along any sort of line that people like...

  2. man after this move, I would love to put something together...cause no offense, but I am not to thrilled on any of those...I know people put some work into them and that deserves credit, but I think they can be much better...Like others said, the one we have is better...I know that this is time sensitive, but this is not something I think that should be rushed...If for some reason, we get some more time, let it be known, so others can try...

  3. Gore is a hypocrite...

This is what is wrong with al gore... Do not preach to me that we are the cause and personify yourself (al gore) as being the one who has the answers, when you do not practice what you preach... and in his movie, he claims he has been onto this trend for many, many years, so he should be the first one to have the greenest house on the market...So it is not like he just had an epiphany and is working on getting things switched over, he has "been concerned" about this issue for many years...

This is like me saying we need to clean up our oceans, but then live in a house that dumps my sewage directly in the water...

Phillippe you are correct that this is not about him, but it kind of is... I think we need to watch our selves and yes we should all do more to better this planet, not just for us but future generations to come. But I truly believe this is climate change and not global warming...I think there are many more pressing things to be concerned about: Population control, human colonization of animals land, figuring out how to live in harmony with animals (cause the population is only going to grow and we are going to build, so if we can live in harmony with animals when we encroach on their territory, it would make the world a better place)

I just do not think that we have enough data to predict the future of what this planet does on a regular basis and by regular basis, I mean every 20-30 million years... There is not historical trend to theorize the future..

  4. Yeah, I think I will not be a cheap a$$ and just get the big one...Even though I change tanks and equipment all the time, I think I have it dialed in...Going with a 400w over the tank and then this skimmer and new sump and then I think I just get to set back and watch everything grow...

  5. Not sure if others have seen this program, but it is 2 and half hours long of diving in many different tropical spots in the pacific...they find new species of fish and just amazing filming... They dive to 400 feet on re breathers...Crazy stuff......if anyone is able to catch this, I would highly recommend it!!!!!!!!!!!

Pacific Abyss on the Discovery Channel.

*edit- According to the discovery channels website, will be on again on Oct. 21st, 12:00pm...I highly recommend this show!!!!! There is alot of stuff we see in our hobby...

  6. So I am going the way of a sump and will be going with a ATI bubblemaster skimmer..

Everyone goes oversize on the skimmer, but how much is necessary?

I was going to go with the one that is rated at 250gal tank, but wondering if it would be just as good to go with the smaller one that is rated for 100gal heavily stocked tank (140 not heavily stocked), cause I would save about 100 bucks...total water volume will be 70gal. I do not mind spending the extra 100 bucks if it is going be a helpful thing, but if there is a plateau and the bigger one will not do much more for my tank I will not spend the extra money...

    Help me out here...

  7. Sweet!

How is that overflow working out?

    Noisy?

I'm getting a 60G cube soon. It comes with an overflow box and I'm trying to decide if I want to drill it or just use that overflow box.

Do you have an ATO going to keep the water level steady for the overflow, or does it work with a range of levels?

Since he has a sump, it should not effect the the overflow, that water level should drop in the sump...

  8. It is a great looking tank...that overflow is still one of the coolest ideas I have seen in a very long time...You really like to have you tanks full to the top of water, that would make me nervous, LOL...I just worry a little to much with stuff like that, lol....Can not wait to see what you do with the starfire cube....

  9. Nothing compares to halides, I have had both and halides are much better there are a couple of other people who have gone from t5 to halides. Now do not get me wrong, t5's will grow any coral, but do not compare to the look halides give, imo.

  10. Those are very nice...but yeah, I will be getting alot of red since I am getting an order from reefdoctor at a very killer deal...the greener ones I may be interested in...

I hope someone around here gets the crazy morphs that are popping up on the internet...but like I said, it is a hefty price for a LFS to pay and hope to sell it at such a high price...but who knows maybe something will happen :)

  11. Dr. Mac seems to have some good prices on Australian stuff. Maybe you should check his stuff out.

The page takes a while to load but scroll all the way down and the acans are down there.

    Dennis

Yeah, alot of red...if you look at frag farmer especially or the captive reef, they have way crazier things then dr. mac, reefermadness, etc. Most of the ones on dr. mac, I could get local...it is the crazy color morphs that I have yet to see local...

  12. Maybe if we got some people to go in on a couple of colonies and then fragged them up it might be worth it to go that route...Not trying to undercut LFS but due to the cost, I am not sure they will be around here any time soon...I guess if we can get 5 people to get 4 colonies at a 1000 bucks, we could probably get 5-6 polyps each from the different colonies and it would be 250 each...or something like this...maybe i am just dreaming here...
