  1. I have 2 sides up on my stand, held in place using magnets. Works pretty well. I glued a square of metal to the side, the magnets are countersunk into the stand and held in with screws or glue.

  2. Yah i lost the pink boobies i won in the sps growout :( Chalices can be so finicky.

But the woodstock makes up for it i love how its got 4 colors and the bright yellow rim is sweet.

  3. Looks amazing do far. I can't wait to see where it's headed. What kind of wood are you using for the skin? and I if you're going for a very dark/black look' date=' check out Minwax Tudor, onyx, or ebony stains.[/quote']

Thanks!! I actually just cut the wood for the sides yesterday, i'm using 1/2" plywood which i'll seal then paint. My original plan was to get some stainless or aluminum sheeting with some cool reef scenes cut out and attach those to the wood sides. Then i was going to paint some designs, then it was going to be just black. So its ever evolving lol thanks for the suggestions i'll definitely look into those before i come up with a final decision. Always good to get outside suggestions!

  4. looks good. its possible they are only driving the LED's at 2 watts. that would be 110 plus 8 watts for the fans would put it closer to 120.

Could be, though i hope not since i passed on the 2w version to get this one. But even if so, it puts out great light and perfect color.

  5. The shimmer is better than my MH pendant, and the color is almost perfect IMO. With just the blues on the colors of the corals pop like i have never seen before. Of course its almost impossible to pick up on the camera but i gave it a shot anyway

  6. For lighting i wanted to venture into LEDs so i went with a cheapo chinese ebay fixture as my tester. I am extremely impressed by this fixture. Its 120w using 55 3w LEDs, 30 blue 25 white. Not sure how thats 120w but whatever. 3 fans are slightly loud but i could replace them if need be

  8. Added a baby boy to the family, and a frag tank inline with my display :D

The stand was simple, 2x4s and some 1/2" plywood sealed with Kilz. I used my Kreg tool for the first time and make pocket holes to hold it together.

I bought 2 of these 18x18x16 tanks for a great deal from Micah. They have been painted on one side blue and a tan color on the bottom. There is also a hole drilled about 4" from the bottom of the tank in the back wall, and to top it off it has been sealed. I wanted 4 clear sides and a bulkhead to drain into my sump. So i got to work.
