  1. Thought i'd update this. The slimer continues to STN. Each day a little more. So Monday i fragged 4 braches off it and put the rest of the coral in a tupperware container overnight with 3 drops of Lugols to about 2 cups of water. Woke up next morning expecting it to be completely white. It wasn't, so i put it back in the tank. The frags looked good the first day, all of them had decent PE. But as the week has gone on, the frags are losing more and more color and PE is declining. The main colony has not shown any PE all week, it has browned out, but the STN has stopped. This afternoon the frags look terrible, so what the heck, i tossed them in the container with 3 drops Lugols until i get home from work around 6. We'll see how it goes from here. So i think i will lose the slimer completely. The purple acro has not worsened. But it has not grown any new flesh over the bleached area either. I just can't believe i'm going to lose the slimer from having it in a lower flow area for 4 days. Reminds you how delicate these corals are.
  2. Hmm interesting. I hadn't tried to ID it yet. In my tank its purple. Fast grower too, it encrusted in a week and has new branches shooting up all over it. I mounted it horizontally instead of vertical. Worked pretty good.

    RODI Logic

If you re-route the waste you will be using up the carbon/particle/RO membrane faster. The waste water has all the nasties. If you keep using that, it will just get worse and worse and seriously lower the life of your membrane.
  4. Dang. There will always be another!
  5. Funny stuff. I love that cat jumping out of nowhere and making the kid fall down. Hilarious!
  6. That should be fine. I have 1400gph+ in my 29gal tank.
  7. Yah i'm with Ahbrit, but if you are getting a deal i'd go for it. Paying retail for most of these skimmers is a waste of $ IMO. You can DIY one for half the price and have the same performance. Or buy used!
  8. Ahh lucky you! I think i'll go the easy route and use a test cap. I'll make a few shrouds, some with holes some with slots like yours. I have 4 more props coming, all Dumas. I do have a couple of the octura props too, i guess those are the ones that put out the major flow. Which prop gave you the most flow and easiest restarting?
  9. Great pics!! How are those zoos growing for you? BTW my tubs frag i got from you has 8 new polyps!!!
  10. Nice! I didn't have any of the 1.5 PVC laying around so I went with the ABS and a smaller prop. Well heck its not even a maxijet!! LOL DId you use the test cap or just cut the groove to mount to the MJ yourself? Did you use a miter saw for that? I'm going to have to use my dremel. Can you show me a pic of your impeller/propeller on yours?
  11. Sweet. Glad you finally got one. I'm gonna start working on the stand in the next month or so. I'll be ordering the lights soon, then all i will need are the overflow and sump i think.
  12. Bah, Jody your killin' me here! Keep on getting all this sweet stuff and me with a full tank. I love those acans, those are the ones i wanted to be the first lords in my tank. Awesome lords.
  13. Ok got some stuff ordered, 48" of carbon fiber rod, and 4 more props just in case i mess up on a couple. Carbon Fiber Rod, 24", .098 (2) [MID5707] Plastic Prop,1/8":.19-.35 [DUM3003] Plastic Prop,3/16":.19-.35 [DUM3004] I'll be picking up a couple pumps from Sean this week too. So i'll have 2 or so days till these arrive. Then its back to work!
  14. Its a sweet concept. How well it works remains to be seen.
  15. Dang, that really sucks. Sean might have the best cure LOL
  16. With the shroud it doesn't do much. When removed its moving a much wider stream of water so its hard to say. I'd guesstimate about double the gph just using that small prop. This powerhead was rated at 150gph i believe.
  17. I'm going to order some .98" carbon fiber shafts today to extend it a bit. I'm also gonna work on finding a different cover, as this is the only prop i bought that fits inside this shroud. I think the other props are gonna move some serious water.
  18. Hows it feeling? I haven't had that happen yet, not looking forward to it. Did you get the bristle out? Duck tape over it will get it out too. Everything sticks to duck tape, just put a strip over it and remove. Miles
  19. It doesn't work as well with the cover on. I think the prop needs to be farther out from the body of the pump. This should allow much more water to be taken in. I'm going to try making just a sort of basket to cover the prop. It moves a good amount of water for this tiny thing without the cover. I need to figure out some sort of stopper that the prop will hit if it starts spinning the wrong way. When it start the wrong way it almost pulls out of the pump. Then when i let it hit my finger it goes the right way. I want to get the MJs from Sean for a little more reliable pump. This thing only runs half the time anyway.
  20. Good question. I think its the reason that TAAM came out with the Seios. I've got the prop cover glued up. I just need to drill it for the intake of water. I'll be doing that and posting the conclusion tonight.
  21. I'm gonna let the superglue dry for tonight. Tomorrow i hope i'll get a chance to drill a bunch of holes in the shroud for the intake of water. Then we'll see what this puppy can do. Miles
  22. Just need to get the flange off this intake Perfect fit Some grinding and some superglue
  23. One thing i noticed. There is no set direction for the prop to spin on this pump. Half the time it spins backward, the other half the proper way. If it spins backward, i have to make it stop and spin the other way with my fingers. A stop is going to need to be put in place to prevent the reverse spinning in the event of a power outage. Anyway, on to the shroud. Scrap piece of 1.5" ABS fits almost perfect over the hole on the power head. So i used the dremel and made sure it would fit. Might as well use the parts available. This will be how i connect the shroud to the pump
