  1. It is one point, out of all the other pressures out there, us hobbyiest are the only ones actually trying to grow the coral instead of harvest it for other things like coral skeletons, calcium etc...
  2. Please don't refer to me as an uneducated hobbyiest... I study for hours before i buy, do, or say anything.
  3. If you are ever coming up to the Portland area drop me a line here or on TRT. I have some nice corals i can donate to the tank too.
  4. I agree. I would also recommend going bb since it is just a holding tank. drain out of the old tank into the new and move the corals over as you go.
  5. I bought some from him a long time ago. they were fine. he does have some interesting stuff but like Vanz, i have not heard a peep outta him in over a year.
  6. (bored) I reserve the right to be skeptical. That is all i'm gonna say.
  7. CCR, i will keep you in mind. when would you be up this way next?
  8. I also have half a bucket of solar salt for use in ponds and FW tanks to improve the health of the fish. added at 1 tbsp per 5 gallons it helps the fish build a great slime coat and i have had excellent results with it. free to the first person to grab it, bring your own bucket please. first come first served.
  9. thanks for the tech stats guys they are very versatile and the manufacturer will even fix them if they ever have a problem.
  10. new icecap 660 ballast with new harness, heatsink and the instruction book. i got this 2 years ago and don't need it. will sell for $140 OBO within reason. these are on sale at drs foster for $160
  11. Aquaticus 8745 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy Suite C Beaverton, OR 97225 503.297.4039
  12. No it isn't but i would make tha kids aware that you may check on them from time to time. Protect your own first.
  13. I had a chance to check out the new shop on Saturday. Aquaticus Saltwater Aquariums (they are across the street from WWP). The shop is still being put together but it is looking nice. They say they will honor the standard club discounts but i did tell them they really should be a sponser. the place looks sharp and the guys working there seem to know what they are doing, they are also very polite and excited. Just thought i would give a little report. Unless they get a massive well priced SPS frag section though... Joel will still be getting all my money.
  14. Be very careful what you buy from them. the quality is not the best... I don't even think any of our major LFS's use them up here.
  15. I was just wondering what names you have on the other sites. it would help me ID my local buds. me... TRT- Twitterbait Seahorse.org- Twitterbait RC- Twitterbait (rarely used) do you see a pattern here?
  16. Now that is just about right.... could even get that whit tip reef shark i've been wanting...

  19. Another one bites the dust... Congrats man! Glad to hear.
  20. I would almost want a seperate reactor for it so you can control to flow better and reduce it or increase it depending on what it does.
  21. Let me ask a friend or 2. Spanky on TRT has a doctor's in Marine Biosedimentation and a few others. he may be able to help.
  22. just shield the coral with a piece of metal. I have this crap going nuts in my nano right now. it gets so bad it will actually grow off anything. I am trying the starvation technique with my LMB and he is trying it out but does not seem very interested (even though his belly is full). i expect to torch the rock, mushrooms and all sometime this month... this is evil spawn of the lowest reaches... evil stuff. it is so evil it can even choke out hair algae (it really can!!!)
