Ocean In a Box
Do you feed your zoanthids or paly's or do you just allow the light to provide them nutrients?
andy
I feed mine fish poop. Nutritious AND delicious.
CA2OR
I am starting to feed mine and replace substraight to provide more nutrients based off recent research and results.
USCG CWO
They get what they get when I feed the tank. Shane
stylaster
I purposely feed the palys if i want them to grow fast... ie purple deaths and nuclear greens will grow insanely fast if you feed them brine shrimp and mysis. Never been able to get zoas to feed
markdadof2
I don't bother to feed mine anymore - I used to and my paly growth was great, but I don't want them to expand much more as I'm out of room - well, except for nice corals.
CA2OR
I am finding that what they are on is more important to Zoa's than what you feed.

Never been able to get zoas to feedRoy, thats why I was asking because I bought got some PD's and NG's a while back and have not seen a lot of growth. andy
Zoas have to eat something though, right? They can only get carbohydrates from photosynthesis, proteins have to come from somewhere.
chorse
The larger proto palys like to get meaty foods. They should show an accelerated growth rate if fed regularly. The smaller zoanthids, parazoanthids, and zoanthus gigantus should grow like weeds without being fed any meaty food. They should however benefit from a filter food like phyto plankton or oyster eggs. CA2OR
I have read over and over that either Argocrete is producing fabulous results in color and growth. It is a sand.

impur
My zoas grow faster on ceramic plugs than argocrete. I don't feed any of mine.
