siskiou
I'm trying to improve the flow in my 120G tank, since I still have a lot of gunk collecting on the rocks that aren't directly in front of a pump. Pumps I have in there: Tunze 6000 and 6055, both on a controller going from about 30% to 100% at 20 second intervals, sitting across from each other and blowing across the tank. A Koralia 4 in the middle of the back wall, blowing toward the front. One MJmod, on the right wall, with flow going up and diagonal. A modded Tunze 6025, on left side of tank, flow straight across at about mid level. Return pump is an Eheim 1262. I *think* I have enough pumps in there, but there are still plenty of dead spots, where stuff collects. How can I arrange things more efficiently without going barebottom? CCR
i would change the 2 tunzi pump at angles instead of pointing at each other to start. All pumps should be pointed from each others flow to max flow of each of them. increase the flow of your adjustable
siskiou
I'll give the angles a try! Thanks for the input! And I have them set to ramp up and down between 30 and 100%, because it creates more of a natural wave effect. Do you think I should increase the lower percentage? Maybe to 50 or 60%? I would set them higher during light on and a lot slower in dark. The changing of the angles should help. I would move my 6100 just a little different and it made a big difference
tidalsculpin
One more suggestion is to clean your pumps in vinegar on a regular schedule(like once every 8 weeks). You would be amazed how flow improves after a good cleaning.
CA2OR
Could the angle of my return be affecting my Xenia?
siskiou
It certainly could! My xenia doesn't like strong flow. It's much happier in a calmer corner.
CA2OR
I had to adjust my flow when my water level dropped. I since adjusted it back but my Xenia just keep dying just the same.
