shaywood Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 I have had this Acan for several months and it has done very well. It continues to grow and feed well. Occassionally I give it a small piece of silverside. As it grows it has become more translucent! Any idea why? My water parameters are listed below - and should be fine. P.S. It's pictured on the right in the second picture. Quote
Michael7979 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 If this is in the tank with the low ph and the high dkh then that is probably your answer. The coral is stressed and is losing color. Quote
Frank Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 That is waht I was thinking it is stressed from the other problems.. Quote
shaywood Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 I have read on the Internet that Acan's are low/med light corals, so I moved it toward the bottom in the shade. We'll see. Quote
R-3 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Yeah PH is low and alk is a little high. How high was is before? Later Ryan Quote
shaywood Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 I started out with in at the bottom of the tank, then moved it too the top. PH use to be around 8 and KH was around 8 -10. Quote
R-3 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 What have you changed to make the ph and kh change? Obviously the 8 and 8-10 you gave are much more acceptable. Later Ryan Quote
shaywood Posted August 17, 2008 Author Posted August 17, 2008 Ca Reactor definately drove the PH down. Couldn't keep up even with Kalkwasser. The treat to fix was putting a maxi-jet in my sump with an air line. The added air exchange fixed PH in 24 hours! Quote
