andy Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Joe's Juice doesn't work for me. Aiptasia-X doesn't work for me. I *think* this should do it: Kudos to Joel for suggesting this subtle, elegant solution. I have this strange urge to go buy an ozonizer from him now... how odd. Quote
theJenchild Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 That's what I did to get rid of my apitasia! Unfortunately it didn't work for me, all I did was piss the little dude off and he split. Of course, I was using a lighter, not a blow torch. I have a hunch your idea will be a touch more effective. My next course of action is a peppermint shrimp.... Quote
spectra Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Oh great Andy pulled out the crack lighter(whistle) The Aptasia X seems to work on mine but they are small ones. Kind of was hoping the peppermint shrimp would eat them but did not touch them and they started to multiplyDOH! Quote
180Bob Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Do you think this method would work on macroalgae? I have some in my tank that I can't seem to get rid of? b ob Quote
andy Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 I'm betting yes. Even if it doesn't, the process is strangely satisfying. Quote
WAVES Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Glad it worked Andy,, Now if only there was a little pinpoint underwater torch.... Hummmmm.... Quote
undrtkr_00 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'm betting yes. Even if it doesn't' date=' the process is strangely satisfying.[/quote'] Nothing strange about that.... FIRE FIRE FIRE! (flame)(flame)(flame) Quote
kriswaters Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I injected mine straight with boiling lemon juice. I used an insulin syringe and one of those little plastic lemons full of juice! A small amount of juice, a few seconds in the micro, a little stick in the butt (well stalk) and bata bing....bye bye bye aiptasia and majano anenomes..... hehehehehehe (love it) Kris Quote
jm82792 Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 I need to try that,I have a manjo and 2 babies. It moved from a shady spot to more light... I though people were overreacting but no there not aiptasia and manjo are a pain. Quote
kriswaters Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 I really don't stress to much about them. They are definately easier to kill when bigger! I think that they probably exist in the reef eh? Oh, by the way, I have a ton of bristle worms too...oh well. Kris Quote
coralreefaquarist Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 dude thats my toothbrush(scratch). i use kalkwasser mixed to a paste with hot water and syringe and shoot it into the little buggers when they close round it they end up dead if you try to stab them theyl multiply. Quote
andy Posted June 27, 2008 Author Posted June 27, 2008 Yeah, but bristleworms are good guys. That, and they move too quickly to incinerate Quote
180Bob Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Yeah' date=' but bristleworms are good guys. That, and they move too quickly to incinerate[/quote'] You just need a BIGGER torch and do them all at once. Quote
andy Posted July 3, 2008 Author Posted July 3, 2008 A week and change later, and the dead aiptasia are staying dead... which is a good thing; normal aiptasia are tough, undead aiptasia could rule the world. 1 Quote
180Brandy Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 You were right that was fun!! It sounded like popcorn popping. Now will just wait and see if then stuff comes back....(whistle) Quote
kriswaters Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 True on the "stabbing"/"multipling". If you don't get them good...they come back. If you do nothing...the come back. I tried the Kalk paste....all I got was a bubbly mess of stuff that didn't stay put. Tried super glue-Solidified in the water and floated into the sump. Tried to inject both...didn't work. I guess everyone has their tried, and true method....mine, feed mysis...sneak up on the bugars whilest the eat, and stab em' with a boiling syringe full of lemon juice...hehehehehe Kris Quote
kriswaters Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Yeah' date=' but bristleworms are good guys. That, and they move too quickly to incinerate[/quote'] And they are ICKY!!! Kris Quote
