stylaster Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Hi Guys Im putting together a 125 gallon tank with a 55 gallon sump. The sump is a 55 acrylic tank, so no problems drilling or gluing in partitions. I was wondering if you all have any good suggestions of how it should function. My idea was have one end with the return lines into a filter sock, along with the skimmer located there. Create some baffles then into a algae filter area, some more baffles, then carbon and phosphate remover and then the return line. What do you guys think? roy Quote
impur Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 That sounds perfect Roy. I would go with that plan as well for my sump. Miles Quote
Nyles Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Sounds like my sump, should be fine, just make sure whatever is in return area wont be broke or otherwise if it runs low on water. Quote
kriswaters Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I think that most sumps are functional however you set them up. I have two overflows, one on each side of the sump. One side feeds the skimmer section, the other feeds the fuge. They both empty into the middle section where the return pump is. This is the largest of the three sections so that I can keep tabs on my evaportion. I have an auto fill of RO/DI water that feeds this area as well. Good luck! Kris Quote
stylaster Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 ok cool thanks guys, how do you do your baffles? one low one high one low? or other way around? Quote
Nyles Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 I used to do them, high-low-high, but I think its overkill. Test with a high and if that dont do it depending on what skimmer then go with high-low Quote
