Zach0225 Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 Is it possible to run a successful long term tank with no fish and just sps with inverts? I’d assume it is if you dosed and fed to account for the lack of fish poo its possible but is it sustainable? Anyone who is doing this please let me know how. Quote

I guess it’s more of a curiosity, I can always get clowns or some other form but there aren’t many fish that catch my eye that are suitable for a nano. I love hawkish, coral beauty and mandarins but i feel nanos are too small for them Quote
LavenderTi Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 My 22 gallon coral quarantine tank is fishless. I dose ammonia daily and phosphate weekly. I will feed pellets from time to time. There’s a ton of amphipods and bristleworms in it since there aren’t any predators. I previously ran the same tank as my main display with 2 clowns and a hawk. The corals seem to not notice a difference. 2 Quote
Colbymac92 Posted March 4, 2024 Posted March 4, 2024 (edited) I did it when I ran fallow for a few months. Still did ghost feedings. I really enjoyed it but missed the fish Edited March 4, 2024 by Colbymac92 Quote
islandVib3s Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 I have been thinking the same. Maybe as a grow out tank..I think it would be alot more stable and the ammonia dosing would be safer without fish but may kill off some inverts. 🤔🤔🤔 should I? 🤣 Quote
Zach0225 Posted March 7, 2024 Author Posted March 7, 2024 I would really love a invert/sps only tank. loads of shrimp, snails and sps. Maybe just maybe 1 mandarin goby if I can get the pod population to thrive. 1 Quote
SantaMonica Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Should be fine unless you need to feed the corals a ton, because to feed the corals you would normally feed the fish a lot first, then feed the corals. Quote
Colbymac92 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Maybe just throw a single CB in there something for nitrates to feed the sticks Quote
goldenbasketreef Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Also fish is great in controlling algae growth Quote
