mister crabs
Ok so i know obviously you cant run a 400w bulb off a 250w ballast.....but what about the other way around? Is this possible? will it just basically overdrive the bulb or not have any effect at all. I am asking b/c I have a 400 mogul setup but i only have my 29g biocube and dont want to boil my fish and corals. if i can just slap a 250w bulb in there or even a 175w that would be awesome. has anyone ever done this? if not then back to the drawing board so to speak i guess. thanks in advance for any help or suggestions! chewie
a 400w ballast will drive a 250 bulb. It may stay lit for a while, or it could fail and possibly cause serious damage. I wouldn't risk it.
Ronjunior
From what I remember reading from Mfg. sites it's a fire hazzard. Not worth the risk, plus now that you posted it, good luck collecting from the insurance company if they Google you
