I cannot say that the Rio will work, but it did when I cleaned this up and put it away. I modified the skimmate cap so it has a screwed connectors rather than the stock plug. The skimmer is in very good condition and works really well. This skimmer is good for a moderately loaded 50 gallon tank. It is a 24" tall cast acrylic chamber with very good residence time to remove the organics. It has a very nice ball valve for adjustments and can be disassembled for cleaning.
