pdxmonkeyboy
Was thinking of putting some purigen in a reactor for some additional filtration. why? i dunno, just bored. wondering if it worth the $25. would be nice to have rechargeable media. youcallmenny
I used to in my first year before switching to small particle lignite carbon. It was basically expensive carbon that can be recharged. My issue is that it would plug up my reactor if it was packed in there and it's little round shapes would go through the NPX filters of the reactor if it was loose. As for the efficacy, I couldn't say. Nutrients were neither a problem with or without it. That said, it's super easy to clean. It turns brown and that rinses right back out.
lewisriverfisherman
I am running purigan in "the bag" in my overflow in my aio. My nitrates got a little higher than I liked. I'm not sure if it will work in a reactor as its pretty small media.
