Nyles
You still "curing" in fresh water? If so I would move the rocks now to your water change water and see how they do with heat and circulation after 2 weeks in a regular environment with salt. andy
Haven't checked mine in weeks and weeks. I'll see this afternoon. A pH monitor will work with freshwater as well as with salt, right?

dsoz
I have some DIY rock in my tank. I made it a year ago, and put it in my tank in April. Seems to be doing fine. Also there are two pieces in the TFT tank in my classroom. Also seems to be doing fine. Of the rock that I made this summer, I have some in SW now, circulating and bubbles with a PH/venturi. I think that the exposure to the air is a critical component to the process. When concrete "hardens" it changes from calcium oxide to calcium hydroxide. Then over time it absorbs CO2 from the air to turn into calcium carbonate. If it is all under stagnant water all the time it cannot absorb enough CO2. Once I started bubbling the water, the pH started to stabablize. Now I am getting the rock to be cultured with bacteria, then it will be ready to go into tanks as fully cultured live rock. dsoz
