The ReefBox
Can you mount a bulkhead with the flange and gasket on either the wet side or dry side of application? I've always installed with flange on wetside (interior) . Was thinking I would like to reverse the one in the sump son the flange and gaske are on the exterior of the sump. Will this leak? mattv
Shouldn't be a problem, I did it on my sump.

xmas_one
Potato vs potato. Only problem with putting the flange on the dry side is that your threads are on the wet side and will get crusty.

milesmiles902
I've done both, and in the end they both dried with no leaks. I wouldn't be surprised if the general idea comes back to the pressure on the gasket from the weight of water in the tank. Kind of like how the weight of the water seals a plug for your sink or tub. If you put the plug on the other side of the drain, you have the water pressing the plug outward. The idea probably works the same for bulk heads, just flipped vertically. On my 75 I haven't had issues. I just tightened the bulk head more.
Kshack
I think the gasket goes on the flange side, no mattewr which side that is on. Otherwise, as you turn the nut it will distort the gasket.
MoparFan2016
I would think you would be fine. I have never personally done it, but that's because haven't needed to not because it won't work. As long as you have (flange - gasket - glass/acrylic - nut) you should be good either way ???? ...unless you have a fish strong enough and smart enough to unscrew the bulkhead from the inside lol [emoji6] Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk
