Cobalt
tank: I prefer shallow and deep tanks to tall and narrow, namely because I plan on installing an acrylic divider in the tank for a refugium, and shallow tanks need less light. I would strongly consider a cube tank. I want the setup to be simple and want all the equipment in the tank itself and do not want hang on the back equipment or overflows to a sump. I would consider an acrylic tank so I can install bulkheads to facilitate this. light: for an geisman or aquamedic style hanging pendant, 24" with a single 150 or 250 DE HQI, LED moonlites, and prefeberly room for a CF actinic. chiller: nano style peltier device chiller skimmer:none unless i have problems down the road wave device: any junk oscillating powerhead top-off: inverted 1 gallon jug :-) budget: up to $700 depending on setup heater: any I'm really trying to go simple this time around. i had pretty involved setups in the past with float switches, calcium reactors, and controllers but it was jut overboard. KISS is my concept going forward now. I would but a complete new setup package online but nearly all those i have seen come with a hood and CF lighting and i want this tank open to the air because of the halide lighting
Cobalt
well i answered my own question, found a Aquapod HQI Nano-Aquarium System 24 Gallon - 150 Watt 14,00K HQI for $327 shipped! that's hard to beat. I read about some cracking problems on older units, but I'm not sure about when this one was made.
dsoz
Welcome to the site! Is the AP new or used? If new, where are you getting it from? I almost went with the AP when I started back into the hobby (in February this year). I think they are a sweet setup, especially with the 150w HQI!!! I almost regret not getting one, even if it is only to be used as a QT for corals, clams, anemones, etc... Maybe some other time when I have some spare change... ha, ha, ha! dsoz
Cobalt
new from petmountain.com premiumaquatics also has it for $299 but may charge shipping. i have decided to wait for the JBJ 28g HQI to begin shipping and prices might slip a bit off MSRP. Currently it can be had (pre-order) for $480 shipped, not too bad probably.
