fishmanmike01
I have like 5-600 hundred lb I'm considering doing. I've read many articles that say it "eats away" The outer surface of the rock. Does this process change the surface of the rock at all? My mind has me thinking I'd end up with smooth rocks afterword. Lol.
kriz2fer
No its not going to remove enough to change the shape or surface. It will clean the rock tough.
Pontus
What is cleaned from the rock? I don't understand why you would want to dissolve some of your rock. How does that help?
LC Scott
It will remove most of the organics from the rocks.
kriz2fer
What is cleaned from the rock? I don't understand why you would want to dissolve some of your rock. How does that help? Sometimes live rock can have pest that won't go away. That's why people are buying less and less live rock and getting dead rock. When you acid bath the rock you strip it from everything including pest.
Pontus
Have you ever decapsulated brine shrimp eggs or dissolved the shell off of a chicken egg with acid? It does dissolve the calcium portion of the eggs, but the organic parts are left behind. When you want an organic body to dissolve, you generally put lime over it to help decompose the organics. Do you know how deep the acid penetrates?
TheClark
I highly recommend it. Don't get stuck with phosphate leaching rock, it makes life miserable!
