Islandoftiki
Here it is, my Goodwill reef vase. $2.99 After a good soak in vinegar, it came out spotless. The volume of this vase appears to be approximately 3/4 gallon.
Islandoftiki
Here's the light I'm going to use. Finnex 26w. 50/50 Blue and White bulb. At $33.90 it's probably going to be the most expensive item I use. It has a moonlight, but it's not separately controllable, it uses a rocker switch to go between regular light and moonlight. So I probably won't use the moonlight function. We'll see if I can rig something up. It's a decent looking fixture and should provide more than enough lighting for this project. Heck, it's probably enough light in such a small tank to grow SPS. I'm still contemplating if I want to switch to a square or rectangle tank. Anybody thought about not using a heater and going with corals that can handle a wide temperature range? There are people keeping some soft corals (palys, zoas, mushrooms) in sealed biospheres with no heater.

Islandoftiki
Most vase tanks use an airstone for water flow.
Islandoftiki
Maybe I could throw my little 7.5 watt un-regulated hydor heater in there? I'll pop it in tonight and see what temp it gets to.
Islandoftiki
I could also steal the one out of my 2 gallon tank at work. It won't get cold enough this summer to worry about heating that tank since I keep it around 72 normally.
kriz2fer
Dang how many nano tanks you got?
Islandoftiki
Just these two: (The competition with the 2 gallon tank is still ongoing.) And the one for the new competition.

Islandoftiki
And the one at work too right? Well, the 2 gallon freshwater shrimp tank at work, too. But that's freshwater, it doesn't count. On a side note. My un-thermostated 7.5 watt heater heats the vase tank to 88 degrees. Not gonna work.
