jmetz32
Hi I just added a lined puffer to my tank earlier today.. Its just laying on the bottom flapping it's find fast and has blotchy skin. Water parameters are all fine that I know of. Corals and other fish are doing great. When I added him I only acclimated him for like 5 minutes... Floated bag, and added cup of my tank water to bag. Then released him. I also forgot to turn lights out!! Ha any ideas on this or normal? When I turn lights out and put blanket over tank to make it pitch black, he comes out and swims. He's just still getting used to tank right? Thanks

tjc
I dont think putting a blanket over your tank be necessary. Fish put in a stressful situation sometimes stay on the bottom breathing and flapping hard. Keep an eye on him, but give him space as well. Some fish don't take change well. and what do you mean by blotchy skin? ime puffers are very hardy.
Emerald525
The blotchy skin is just a sign of stress. I agree they tend to be pretty resilient fish. It hopefully will look better in the morning.
wegotjs
If you dont acclimate properly you are going to have theses problems and lose some fish. Gotta have patients in this hobby.
jmetz32
When I went to bed last night he was looking better... Haven't checked this morning yet. I had to run errands or I would have acclimated better.. I figured he was better off in tank then the bag for a couple hours..
