shaywood
My green star polyps started out very small, but have slowly spread over much of my rocks. Any suggestions how to keep them under control?
H20cooled
Isolate the rock from what you do NOT want them on, they can be very invasive and take over a whole system.
Nyles
I eventually just got rid of mine, they just take over to much, if you really want them put them on the sand and it will encrust there, then you can actually get rid of it, otherwise if the rock is smooth try peeling it off, if its course and it probably is you will have to chisel it off or in my case I just sell it to my LFS and make sure he works me a deal on new rock at the same time. bluecheese
Make a donation You can always bring them as frag to the next meeting. I am sure there will be some takers (whistle) . I'll be happy to get a small frag if you are getting rid of some of it. I already have the perfect "isolated rock" for it.
biomekanic
If the back of your tank is clear of rock (i.e. not a rock wall) you can peel them off and glue them there, you can also glue them to various pieces of equipment to hide them in your tank. IME, you can gently, and slowly peel them off rock. I used to do that with mine, then cut the colonies up, glue them to frags, let them settle then either trade them at meetings or sell them to shops for store credit. As always, YMMV. impur
I put them on a rock, and place the rock away from everything else. Eventually the GSP mat grows out onto the sand, and i just use a razor blade to slice off a section, rubberband it to a piece of rubble, and trade it off.
