J-Dog Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 What do u guys recommend for testing kits? I'm still trying to dial in on my alk, calcium, and mag but I am getting low on testing supplies. It just screams quality over the API tests, and it's much easier that the Ellos (only one test, and you don't have to count drops to change color). Bigjohnwoody Posted July 10, 2011 Share Posted July 10, 2011 Personally I like Salifert or Elos for mag and calc. However I love my Hanna checker for Alk. Can't wait till I get my Calcium checker. The alk checker is super accurate and no color changing anything. Just a number. Plus Hanna's customer service is unbeatable. Dropped my checker in my sump and they replaced it free of charge. What's wrong with API when it comes to testing for alk, cal, and mag? Why are Elos and Salifert so good? I just read a thread saying the Elos test was very difficult to use for mag. It's hard to tell some of the colors apart, so you may not know the exact numbers, but in most cases you don't need the exact numbers.
