What do u guys recommend for testing kits? I'm still trying to dial in on my alk, calcium, and mag but I am getting low on testing supplies. I am using API right now, but I didn't know how accurate the testers are compared to others.

If you want to spend a little more money I would reccomend Macherey-Nagel, These used to be relabled by Tunze and sold thru marine Depot. here are a couple of sites to read about them and I've only found one that sells them in the US, the second third links are the ones I have, there are alot to chose from

Mine have all expired even though they have a two year shelf life some 2009, 2010 I never used them up, thats why Tunze stopped selling them, the Calcium test if you tested once a week would last over three years

Personally I like Salifert or Elos for mag and calc. However I love my Hanna checker for Alk. Can't wait till I get my Calcium checker. The alk checker is super accurate and no color changing anything. Just a number. Plus Hanna's customer service is unbeatable. Dropped my checker in my sump and they replaced it free of charge. Sent me a brand new complete kit with more reagent and everything.

Thanks for the input guys, but no one is telling me why they prefer a certain brand over another. What's wrong with API when it comes to testing for alk, cal, and mag? Why are Elos and Salifert so good? I just read a thread saying the Elos test was very difficult to use for mag. I'm so confused (scratch)
