impur
Just wanted to see if there is any interest for a group buy on these bulbs. I'm working on putting a small frag tank inline with my current tank and would like to light it with one of these. They will last for 4-6 years. List price is $89 i think if we get 5 or more the price drops to the $75 range. http://www.rapidled.com/servlet/the-141/%28New%29-7-LED-PAR38/Detail Comes with 3 Royal Blue, 1 Blue, 2 Cool White and 1 Warm White CREE XR-E LEDs Available with 60 or 80 degree lenses Anodized finish prevents corrosion and rust Compact size is perfect for Nano and Pico tanks Only uses 17W Fits standard E26 light sockets

Googs
Has anybody ever put two or three in a canopy for a tank like a 40G breeder? I've been thinking of doing that...especially with the $1 a gallon sale...
impur
Yah there is a huge thread over on RC about these bulbs. Lots of folks with 40b and hanging 2 or 3 of these over them.

Dustin
and how much are sockets and everything ud need to get them wired
impur
Depends on how you want them mounted. You could get a normal socket and a lamp cord and be good to go for about 5 bucks.
AquaticEngineer
I may be in for a few. I bought a couple of the 12w blue/white dimmable Par38 bulbs from ebay for under $50 to go over the coldwater tanks. I didnt need as much light as you all will need, but the are pretty nice for the heat factor, and for the price. The ones from RapidLed use far better quality LEDS, and are 3 watt LEDS. impur
Got a response Hi Miles, The bulb is roughly a 17-18k, and the price for 5-10 bulbs is $79 each. Let me know if you'd like to order and I can give you a coupon code or issue you an invoice via Paypal. Thanks, Mike Rapid LED

madmike
I'd like one. Are they a group buy like BRS where we all order seperate or does one person have to place the order and have it shipped to them. thanks Mike
impur
Cool deal i'll start an official tally. I think its going to be 1 person orders and has them all shipped to that 1 person. Also Roy I got an email back they don't do custom bulbs yet.... Miles - 1 Mike - 1 Nate - 2 or 3? AquaticEngineer - 2 or 3?

AquaticEngineer
I'm going with a less expensive LED light since I dont need the high output that photosynthetic corals need.
TheGooseWhisperer
Are these bulbs dimmable with a typical household dimmer switch?
impur
No i don't think they are dimmable. I'm going to go ahead and order myself one, doesn't seem to be enough interest.
