Kevman
So, I have been trying to get my calcium reactor going, and after replacing the ehiem pump and all the fittings and the bubble counter, I tried to do a dry run income to find out that there's no water being picked up out of my sump. so my question is do you use a pump to feed your calcium reactor and if so what kind. I was under the impression that the vacuum from the pump would pull water into the calcium reactor, pressure the calcium reactor and push the extra water back to the sump.....the efluint.... Can give me some direction guys... Thanks
lewisriverfisherman
you can either gravity feed your reactor or a small pump to supply it. I have a eco 633 supplying a RDSB and my reactor. Edit: or you can tee off of your return pump :-)
Saltfinsax
Sounds like you have a air pocket in your pump or someplace close. Get some tubing and start a siphon. Then let run it through the inlet line (forgot the word) of the reactor for wile with the pump running.
Kshack
Some are designed to place in the sump and draw water into the reactor while circulating. Some are designed to be used with a outside water source ( pump or tee off main pump). Can you get a picture, or tell us the mfg of the unit? Kevman
I think i figured it out what should the a fluid ph level be in the calcium reactor
Smann
I siphon/gravity feed mine, Ph should be around 6.5. You can also measure your effluent (which should be a broken stream) for Alk 15-20 Dkh is good higher the better

Thats a good information really goes thru things in detail. From what this says you shouldnt hook up your reactor to your return pump as it puts to much pressure in your reactor which would make sence.
