cellowithgills
This is where I'll be posting my various plumbing questions. So I'll start with this: What's the best flexible tubing for a return hose? The barb on my Rio Hyperflow 26 fits in in a 1" ID vinyl hose.
Smann
I've used Lee's Pond Hose for years, its black so no algae growth. You can probably find it online, I've always bought it local at Upscales, they have all sizes. I am currently using Spa Flex PVC but its my understanding it does not work with barbed fittings, mine is all hard plumbed.
cellowithgills
I'd almost prefer to avoid using the barbed fitting it came with but I don't know how to connect anything to it because it's a weird size.
Smann
Can you remove the fitting? replace it with a threaded PVC fitting, most are standard size. Barbed fitting are fine, used them for years, plastic clamps, zip ties are fine your plumbing is not under pressure
cellowithgills
It can be removed but I'd have to check to make sure that it will fit something pvc
Bicyclebill
I'd suggest at least a small length of vinyl tubing right off the pump to help with noise and vibration. Go from that to a union/ball valve for fine tuning and ease of removal, then maybe hard pipe up and out of your sump?
