dippin61
I love shrimp. Dunno why, but I've always liked them in my tanks. However, the normal varieties quickly become stale and uninteresting. Anyone have any cool shrimp besides the norm? (no skunk, blood, pep, camel, etc etc). And would anyone know where they can be found?
spayne
I really dig the sexy shrimp, but they tend to get lost in a larger tank. It's very entertaining to watch they gyrate their tails. It's also entertaining to tell people, "And those are my Sexy Shrimp." (laugh) You're like me. I love inverts. I'm always on the lookout for something neat for my tank (when I get one again). One of these days I really do want to get a mantis shrimp.
dippin61
yeh, id have a tank just full of inverts if i could lol. i saw a thread over at RC of a japanese tank that was full of different kinds of inverts. Was amazing.
SeanF
There are a lot of cool shrimp that come in occasionally but then the wholesalers jack the price way out of range on the things. You know "rare" always makes the price about 5 times what it should be.
Nyles
LOL I have some of those sexy shrimp in my large tank, haven't seen them in about a month, been trying to find them so I can siphon them out into a smaller tank.
vanz
harlequin shrimps are cool....but expensive to feed. Pistol shrimp/goby combos are nice! You should get that. It's for the smaller tank right?
Nyles
I have harlequins they are not bad if you buy like 4 starfish and can gut hacking off a leg on one a week or so. They are really cool shrimp.
JManrow
Pistol Shrimp that partner up with gobies are very cool.. once you get used to the noise that sounds like glass cracking. As far as where to get shrimp, ask your LFS what new or unusual shrimp are available. He gets weekly availability lists.

impur
Everyone liked my cleaner, it was the first thing pointed out by almost all my friends/family. It died for some reason, but i hated, hated hated hated, how it had to steal the food from corals when i was feeding. That is the only thing keeping me from getting another. Nyles
before I feed and the cleaners appear hungry I will always grab them a small piece of solid raw shrimp. Then feed the tank, they will nibble at the shrimp till its completely gone and the corals are left alone. Works 99% of the time.
dippin61
yeh.. mines a big sissy, he hangs out under my ric rock all day long.

vanz
Good idea on the shrimp. another good idea is to just net the bugga....keep him in there until the corals are done eating.(laugh) (plotting)

AquaticEngineer
Does anyone know much about the Japanese Peppermint shrimps? I seen a couple at Waves, and I think Upscales had some too. Kinda cool looking, anyone got any info on them? I was also looking at getting some bumble bee shrimp if I can find them locally. Anyone know who has em? Ron Popeil
im a big fan of anemone shrimp. i got one several weeks ago, and while theyre essentially invisible, the one i got is still fascinating to look at. theyre decent sized, an inch or two...but crystal clear except for some purple and white blotches. and mantis shrimp tanks are by far one of the coolest things you can have. theyre so durable and will tolerate the most extreme of neglect. theyre smart. bloodthirsty. colorful. get yourself a peacock, theyre rarely boring.
