Algae
Any one know the reason for the low ratio of Mag Sulfate to Mag Chloride suggested when using Kalk or a CA reactor?
coralreefer
What is this low ratio you speak of? DrMerle
Algae
I was talking bout the 7 1/4 Chloride to 3/4 cup sulfate by Farley and BRS. Actually I was just getting lazy. Here is a link. Just have to read it, I guess! http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/index.php
Harold B
From what I've been able to gather from Farley/Holmes's acticles it's about ionic balance. Aparently with the use of a Ca reactor there is an "excess" of sulfate ions which makes it unnessesary to add more sulfate (ions) and the addition of the chloride (ions) makes an ionic equalibrium. For those who use a dosing method for alk/Ca there is another different suggested formula. If any of that makes any sence.
