Eugenereef Posted March 8, 2011 Author Share Posted March 8, 2011 Back in Madison we usually had two frag swaps a year. Typically, they will rent a venue and volenteers would setup the tables. Each table has a price associated with it ($5.00/table for members, $25.00/table for LFS). People renting the tables would also pay for the electricity. It was a huge success and a lot of LFS/private parties would would join in all the way from Chicago!! Each visitor would pay $2.00 entry fee and the ticket was used for raffle. LFS also use to donate stuff for raffle (1 every hr). All the money generated would go for paying the expenses. I remember haveing frag swap in a church and second on at firestation! Usually one of the member would have connections to such venues and the club would pay for this frag swap. It was a lot of fun and everybody looks forward to this event. Actually there were members who reasied corals just for swap and were allowed to presale/preadvertise in for sale fourm! Many people had hi res 11X8 pictures of mother colonies to show what the frag is going to look like when it grows. Very very helpful for buyer and seller both! LOL Actually it works very well! first time i went in the swap, I spent $250.00 DOH! learned my lesson there! next time I went in with fixed budget, left my wallet in the car and took my wife with me (she has had "line item veto" policy long before US congress adapted as law (laugh)(laugh)).
